Defeating Thailand, Vietnamese futsal enters Southeast Asia semi-finals with top spot in group

(CPV) - Playing brilliantly, the Vietnamese futsal team defeated the Thai futsal team with a score of 3-2 in the group stage of the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal tournament.

Having officially entered the semi-finals from the previous round, the match between the Thai futsal team and the Vietnamese futsal team on the evening of November 6 only has the meaning of determining the first and second place in Group A of the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Tournament.

With a relaxed mentality, the Vietnamese futsal team surprisingly brought an attractive match with a confident, pressing style of play against the home team. In the 12th minute, Duc Hoa, after many efforts, equalized for Vietnam. From a corner kick by Minh Quang, the captain of the Vietnam futsal team moved intelligently and shot extremely quickly into the goal. Two minutes later, Thai Huy had a chance to put Vietnam ahead, but the ball unfortunately hit the post from a situation where he received the ball and turned around to shoot unexpectedly.

In the second half, the match continued to be maintained at a high speed. There were many opportunities for both sides but the strikers of both Vietnam and Thailand missed them.

In the 31st minute, a mistake by a young player helped host Thailand take the lead again. Vietnam U19 futsal striker Da Hai lost the ball, allowing the opponent to counterattack and score.

In the 34th minute, Dinh Cong Vien took advantage of a poor catch by the Thai goalkeeper to equalize 2-2. Just 1 minute later, the Vietnamese futsal team launched an exemplary attack when Da Hai passed the ball to the far post for Cong Vien to rush in and finish close to the goal, raising the score to 3-2.

In the remaining time, the home team organized a power-play to find an equalizer but failed due to the excellence of Van Tu.

In the end, Thailand lost 2-3, the Vietnamese futsal team, who finished first in Group A, will meet the second-placed team in Group B, Australia, in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Thailand will meet the first-placed team in Group B, Indonesia.

The two semi-final matches will take place on November 8./.
