Beating UAE 6-0, Vietnam women's team is close to a ticket to the 2026 Women's Asian Cup

On the evening of July 2, the Vietnamese women's team continued to win resoundingly when they defeated the UAE 6-0 in Group E of the 2026 AFC Asian Cup Women's Qualifiers.

The difference in skill level between the two teams was evident from the very first minutes. It only took the Vietnamese women's team a few minutes to put pressure on the ball and create a series of chances. The opening goal came in the 11th minute from a simple combination.

From Van Su's corner kick, Chuong Thi Kieu comfortably jumped high and headed the ball into the UAE net. Just 2 minutes later, the gap was increased for the Vietnamese women's team. The UAE defenders and goalkeeper lacked coordination and fumbled. Thanks to that, Thai Thi Thao was lucky to steal the ball right in the penalty area and easily raised the score to 2-0.

Having an early advantage, the home team, despite playing leisurely, still created numerous opportunities. Captain Huynh Nhu was the one who left many regrets when he could not put the ball in the net.

Young player Ngan Thi Van Su also had a day of aggression, but was also unlucky when facing the UAE goalkeeper in the 25th minute but her shot was too predictable. It was not until the 43rd minute that the next goal appeared after a series of missed opportunities. Smooth coordination pushed Thu Thao to escape down the right wing. Her cross was too accurate for Nguyen Thi Van to easily head in to raise the score to 3-0.

In the beginning of the second half, the Vietnamese women's team quickly finished the match. Nguyen Thi Van completed her double with a delicate tap-in in the 51st minute. In the 63rd minute, Hai Yen, who had just entered the field for a few minutes, had an easy finish to raise the score to 5-0.

In the remaining minutes, the home team continued to dominate. In the 90+5 minute, Van Su finally scored the winning goal, making it 6-0.

With this victory, the Vietnamese women's team has 6 points, leading Group E. On July 5, they will have a direct match with the second-placed team Guam to compete for the only ticket to the 2026 AFC Asian Cup Women's Finals.
