Dak Nong province's tourism activities in the first half of 2024 have shown positive signs, especially with total tourism revenue increasing by 53% over the same period in 2023.
Improve tourism revenue
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2023, Dak Nong province welcomed a record number of tourists, reaching more than 98,000 arrivals. However, the authorities reported that revenue from tourism activities was only estimated at 15.8 billion VND. On average, each tourist only spent about 160,000 VND/person when coming to Dak Nong.
Insignificant revenue from tourism activities not only reflects the shortcomings of Dak Nong tourism but also affects the image and goals that Dak Nong province builds for the tourism industry.
At that time, faced with the situation of "visitors coming but not spending money", the leaders of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) and localities to have specific solutions to develop tourism, prevent tax losses and contribute to local socio -economic development.
By the end of 2023, thanks to increased promotional activities and tourist attraction, overall, revenue from this activity has improved significantly.
Specifically, according to a report by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Nong province, the total number of tourists to the province is estimated at 679,000, an increase of 32.5% compared to 2022. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 160 billion VND, an increase of 146% compared to 2023.
Entering 2024, Dak Nong tourism industry recorded positive growth signals. In the first 6 months of the year, total revenue from the "smokeless industry" is estimated at 121 billion VND, up 50% over the same period in 2023, reaching 63% of the yearly plan.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Nong province, the increase in revenue from tourism activities compared to the same period last year has shown the effectiveness of the tourism promotion program. In particular, with this growth, Dak Nong province is completely capable of achieving the target set for 2024.
The event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Dak Nong province attracted a large number of guests from inside and outside the province.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Anh, Head of Tourism Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that tourism revenue increased mainly thanks to accommodation and food services. In addition, many tourist destinations have introduced attractive activities and programs, thereby bringing a new vitality to tourism.
“In March, Dak Nong province organized a series of events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the province’s re-establishment, attracting visitors from inside and outside the province. Then, during the 5-day holiday from April 30 to May 1, many tourists chose Dak Nong as a stopover and resort,” said Mr. Nguyen Khac Anh.
According to Mr. Anh, Dak Nong province’s tourism has shown some positive signs, partly reflecting the impact of tourism promotion activities. In particular, some localities have proactively linked with other provinces and cities to promote their images and organize tours and routes for tourists.
Besides, developing and improving the quality of infrastructure, tourism facilities and quality of tourism types helps increase the attractiveness of Dak Nong tourism.
From now until the end of the year, the tourism industry strives to achieve the 2024 target of welcoming more than 800,000 visitors, bringing in total revenue of more than 190 billion VND. To achieve this short-term goal, the tourism industry continues to implement solutions such as promoting the recovery process and attracting tourists, especially focusing on connecting and developing destinations, approaching the market of high-spending and long-stay visitors...
Making tourism an economic pillar
Dak Nong province possesses rich and diverse natural resources, and at the same time, it has a full range of unique cultural identities and heritages. The above advantages are consistent with the needs and trends of the current tourism market, contributing to making the tourism industry a pillar economic sector.

By 2050, tourism will become one of the three pillars of the province's economy, promoting the development of other economic sectors; becoming a high-quality geotourism destination in Southeast Asia.
At the end of December 2023, the Provincial People's Committee approved the Dak Nong Tourism Development Project. The project has set out orientations, goals, and fundamental solutions for the tourism market; tourism products; promotion and advertising activities; tourism environment; preservation of historical relics, cultural and natural heritage; and orientations for international, national, and domestic tourism routes.
To achieve the goal, Dak Nong province has made efforts to attract and call for investment, with priority given to the tourism sector. In recent times, the province has welcomed many investors, especially potential investors, to survey the tourism potential of Dak Nong province such as T&T Group, TH Group, Sao Mai Group, etc.
Besides, Dak Nong province actively builds community tourism models, effectively exploiting ethnic cultural materials associated with local branded products to attract tourists.

Most tourism businesses in the province have focused on preparing conditions in terms of facilities, goods, human resources, etc. Thanks to that, they have attracted a large number of tourists in the province and neighboring provinces to visit, have fun and experience the services.
In order for tourism to become an important economic sector of Dak Nong province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism focuses on implementing the province's tourism development project and deploying the assigned contents in the project "Application of information technology to serve smart tourism in Dak Nong province, period 2022 - 2025"; Project on tourism development in Dak Nong province to 2030, vision to 2050.
In particular, the province prioritizes investment in completing infrastructure of key tourist clusters such as: Ta Dung Cultural Ecotourism Area (belonging to Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark), Lieng Nung Amusement Park, Nam Nung Historical Cultural Ecotourism Area, Dray Sap - Gia Long Waterfall Cluster Ecotourism Area... At the same time, Dak Nong focuses on mobilizing social resources, investing in improving infrastructure and facilities in a modern, convenient, and synchronous manner to meet the needs of tourists.
“In the coming time, we will also coordinate with relevant agencies and units to promote tourism promotion and stimulus activities, promote the image of Dak Nong's nature and people to attract tourists,” said Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Nong province Khuc Thi Thoi.
