(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On August 21, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province issued Official Dispatch No. 99/PCTT,TKCN&PTDS on proactively responding to low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions and storms.

Thanh Hoa proactively responds to low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions and storms.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control requested localities to notify captains and owners of vehicles and ships operating at sea about the development of low pressure that is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression so that they can proactively take precautions.

According to Bulletin No. XTNĐ_16h00/DBQG_DBTT dated August 21, 2025 of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a low pressure area is active in the eastern region of the Philippines.

At 1:00 p.m. on August 21, the low pressure area was located at about 14.5-15.5 degrees North latitude, 126.5-127.5 degrees East longitude. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the low pressure area will move in a West-Northwest direction into the East Sea and is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression (TLD), continuing to strengthen into a storm moving rapidly towards the Gulf of Tonkin in the next 2-3 days.

In addition, from August 25, in the North and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue, there is a possibility of widespread moderate to heavy rain.

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 5873/BNNMT-DD dated August 21, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ; to proactively respond to low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions and storms, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province requests departments, branches, People's Committees of coastal communes and wards, People's Committees of communes and wards with ships and boats operating at sea and related units to effectively implement a number of key contents.

Specifically, closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of low pressure areas that are likely to strengthen into tropical depressions and storms; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and adjust production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle possible bad situations.

Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation.

Monitor natural disaster developments, review and prepare response plans for heavy rain.

Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio - Television increase the time to report news and articles about natural disasters to authorities at all levels and people.

The provincial Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors, forecasts, warns, and promptly informs about developments of heavy rain to proactively deploy response measures.

The units organize their duty seriously and regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Civil Defense, Incident Response, Natural Disasters and Search and Rescue.
