On December 17th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1579/QD-TTg establishing the Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Waste. Accordingly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh serves as the Head of the Steering Committee.
The Deputy Heads of the Committee include: Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc (Permanent Deputy Head); Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang; and Inspector General of the Government Doan Hong Phong.
The Steering Committee members include the Ministers and Heads of ministerial-level agencies: National Defence; Public Security; Construction; Transport; Planning and Investment; Interior; State Bank of Vietnam; Government Office; Justice; Industry and Trade; Natural Resources and Environment; Information and Communications; Agriculture and Rural Development; Science and Technology; Culture, Sports and Tourism; Education and Training; Health; Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs; and the Committee for Ethnic Minorities.
The Steering Committee members also include: the Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises; and the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Steering Committee is an inter-agency coordinating organization whose function is to assist the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the resolution of important, inter-sectoral issues related to preventing and combating waste.
The Steering Committee is tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in researching, advising, recommending, and proposing directions and solutions to address important, inter-sectoral issues related to the implementation of the National Strategy on Waste Prevention and Control, the Government's overall program on practicing thrift and combating waste, and carrying out other important tasks and solutions in preventing and combating waste of the economy's resources.
The Steering Committee assists the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating among ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and relevant organizations in resolving important, inter-sectoral issues related to the implementation of the National Strategy on Waste Prevention and Control, the Government's overall program on practicing thrift and combating waste, and other important tasks and solutions in preventing and combating waste of the economy's resources. The Ministry of Finance is the permanent agency of the Steering Committee.
