Establishment of the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club in Hai Phong city
(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of April 3, at the City Cultural Center, the Decision-granting Ceremony to establish the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club of Hai Phong City took place. Attending the Ceremony were Dr. Dang Thi Bich Lien, Former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Honorary President of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, President of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club; Ms. Vu Thi Kim Lien, President of the Hai Phong City Women's Union; and representatives of relevant agencies and units.

For generations, the Ao Dai has become a beauty in Vietnamese culture, it is an indispensable costume in important events of the country and the nation. The Ao Dai enhances the traditional beauty of Vietnamese women, the charm of Asian women. Through many periods of development, the Ao Dai has constantly changed but still ensures its tradition, contributing to the elegant and gentle beauty of Vietnamese women. In addition to being closely associated with the development of social life, the Ao Dai is also a "bridge" and "messenger" in promoting Vietnamese tourism .
On December 28, 2023, at the Vietnam Women's Museum (Hanoi), the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club under the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund was officially launched, kicking off a series of activities to honor Vietnam Ao Dai and contributing to completing the dossier to submit to UNESCO.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club and Director of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund, said: “Vietnamese people not only have a tangible heritage, the Ao Dai, but also intangible heritages such as the cultural space of the Ao Dai, the space of the craft of making the Ao Dai... The mission of the Club is to preserve and spread those values, contributing to building a dossier to request UNESCO to recognize the Vietnamese Ao Dai as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”. The establishment of the Ao Dai Heritage Club in provinces and cities will be an important step to preserve and develop the beauty of the Ao Dai.

At the Ceremony, the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund announced Decision No. 20/QD-HTBT on the establishment of the Hai Phong City Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club under the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club, bringing together famous Ao Dai designers and stylists.
In the coming time, Hai Phong Ao Dai Heritage Club will actively call on individuals and businesses to join in community projects; connect more talents, heritage houses, art, music to enrich the content of the program; expand programs in schools to educate awareness of preserving Vietnamese cultural heritage.

In response to the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2024, the City Women's Union selected the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club of Hai Phong City as the unit to organize the Hai Phong Ao Dai Festival 2024. Ambassadors of the Hai Phong Ao Dai Festival 2024 include: Miss Sea and Islands Vietnam 2022 Dinh Nhu Phuong, Runner-up World Tourism Huong Ly and actress Thanh Huong. The program will take place on May 13, 2024 at the City Theater Square.
