Establishment of Ngoc Linh Ginseng Association and Tra My Cinnamon Association

On the morning of August 2, in Nam Tra My district, the Ngoc Linh Mountain Ginseng and Tra My Cinnamon Association held an extraordinary congress to establish two associations, including the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Association and the Tra My Cinnamon Association. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu attended.

The Ngoc Linh Mountain Ginseng and Tra My Cinnamon Association was established in 2018 with 205 members, mainly cinnamon and Ngoc Linh ginseng growers. In the past, the association has registered to protect the ownership of 50 Tra My cinnamon products and 100 Ngoc Linh ginseng products. However, through practical activities, some limitations have been revealed due to the specificity of Ngoc Linh ginseng.

Faced with the need to develop these two types of trees with high economic value, it is necessary to have a specialized association to enhance the brand and protect the products.

After its establishment, the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Association will have its headquarters in Tam Ky City and the Tra My Cinnamon Association in Bac Tra My District. The Ngoc Linh Ginseng Association will play the role of recommending the central government to have its own mechanism and resources to serve the research and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng; consulting with functional agencies on ginseng security, combating fake ginseng, controlling ginseng quality; researching to expand the Ngoc Linh geographical indication area to control the origin, quality and expand domestic and international cooperation.

Speaking at the Congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said that the province is currently implementing a project to establish a national medicinal plant industry center, in which Ngoc Linh ginseng and Tra My cinnamon will contribute to bringing the Quang Nam medicinal plant industry to greater heights and further.
