The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs announced the Inspection of the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction in Quang Ngai Province.

Resolute in directing the implementation of the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction

Inspection period from January 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024; the period shall not exceed 15 working days from the date of announcement of the Decision.

On the morning of July 15, the Inspection Delegation of the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, led by Deputy Head of the Department of Inspection of Children and Social Policies Le Thi Thao, organized the announcement of the Decision to inspect the National Target Program (NTP) on poverty reduction for the period 2021-2025, in Quang Ngai province.

Accordingly, the inspection period is from January 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024; the time limit is no more than 15 working days from the date of announcement of the Decision.

Attending and speaking at the announcement ceremony, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien requested relevant levels, departments and branches to prepare and be ready to provide records, documents and contents related to the implementation of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025 in Quang Ngai province to the Inspection Delegation upon request.

It is known that recently, in the process of implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025, Quang Ngai province has issued many instructions and directives to the sector and local levels.

Specifically, according to the report in July 2023, Quang Ngai province issued 15 management and operation documents, including the Provincial People's Council issuing 7 Resolutions; the Provincial People's Committee issuing 9 Decisions and many programs and plans for the whole period.

Accordingly, all levels, sectors and localities have actively propagated and thoroughly implemented policies and guidelines on poverty reduction and sustainable poverty reduction goals in many diverse and rich forms.

Organize training courses for officials working on poverty reduction, improve capacity to implement the Program; organize propaganda conferences, conferences to contact and directly dialogue with poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty; give propaganda talks to raise awareness of poverty escape...

Remarkable results

Thanks to that, the poverty rate in early 2021 (according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2016-2020) of the province decreased from 6.41% to 5.35% by the end of the year, reaching the set target.

In 2022, the poverty rate at the beginning of the year (according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2022-2025) was 9.11%, by the end of the year it decreased to only 7.8% and by November 2023, it decreased to 6.22% (down 1.58%), exceeding the planned target by 0.46%.

Of which, mountainous districts decreased to 24.58% (down 5.73%), exceeding 1.22% and plain districts decreased by 0.97%, exceeding 0.57% compared to the set plan; the rate of poor ethnic minority households (out of the total number of ethnic minority households) at the beginning of 2023 was 35.64%, by the end of 2023 it decreased to 32.24%, down 3.4%, reaching the set target.

Another development related to this program, in March 2024, Quang Ngai province chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the progress of implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the locality.

According to information reported at the meeting, in the two years 2022-2023, the public investment capital to implement the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the province is more than 327 billion VND.

By the end of January 2024, more than VND 283 billion had been disbursed, reaching a rate of over 86.5%. The career capital in the two years 2022-2023 was more than VND 272 billion, of which nearly VND 157 billion had been disbursed, reaching a rate of over 57.6%.

The total capital for implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024 is more than 401 billion VND, including public investment capital of more than 156 billion VND and career capital of more than 245 billion VND.
