Emerging at the 27th SEA Games (2013 in Myanmar) with 3 gold medals, the girl from Can Tho exploded at 2 consecutive SEA Games, 28 (2015 in Singapore), 29 (2017 in Malaysia) with 8 gold medals. At the 29th SEA Games (2019 in the Philippines), Anh Vien still dominated the women's swimming scene in the region with 6 gold medals. In a larger arena, Anh Vien also made her mark with 2 bronze medals at the 2014 ASIAD, 1 gold medal at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, 1 silver medal at the 2015 FINA World Cup, 3 gold medals at the 2013 Asian Youth Games...
The 1996-born swimmer decided to stop his international career before the 31st SEA Games (in 2022 in Hanoi), leaving many people disappointed. A feeling of emptiness mixed with regret when at the 31st and 32nd SEA Games, Anh Vien's juniors could not reach the ability of their seniors, while regional rivals such as Singapore continued to showcase their talents alongside the rise of the swimming teams of Thailand and the Philippines.
Secretary General of the Aquatic Sports Association Dinh Viet Hung said that if Anh Vien continues to compete, she will still have the advantage in her strong events such as the 200m and 400m individual medley, in addition to freestyle events. Therefore, whenever people come to watch the women's swimming events at the SEA Games, many people mention Anh Vien's name.
Anh Vien will attend the opening program, free swimming class instruction and summer opening program, responding to the "For Children" action month 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City on May 28 organized by the Central Council of the Young Pioneers. The opening program and free swimming lessons for children will take place from 8-11 am on May 28 at the Binh Chanh District Children's House. The summer opening program and response to the "For Children" action month 2023 will take place from 5-7 pm on May 28 at Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1).
