According to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper, in the area implementing component project 2 - Long Thanh airport's flight management works, workers and engineers are simultaneously implementing many items such as air traffic control tower, technical building, primary/secondary radar station, radio transmitting station, radio receiving station, dependent monitoring station...
At the air traffic control tower project, the construction unit has completed the reinforced concrete structure up to the 10M floor beam. Up to now, the height of the air traffic control tower has reached over 63m. In addition, workers are also installing formwork and reinforcement for the 10M wall to the 11th floor. The progress is exceeding 30 days to compensate for the upcoming rainy season.
Pointing towards the sun, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hai (contractor of General Company 36, the construction unit in the air traffic control area) said that despite the hot sun, the crew still worked enthusiastically.
“The air traffic control tower has been built high, the technical building and many items have been completed, so there are areas with a lot of shade. Therefore, during the construction process, workers can sit and rest, drink water in cooler places to ensure their health. Particularly on the air traffic control tower, we have also set up high nets to block the sun so that the workers can work more comfortably. Even so, the sun is scorching, so I feel sorry for the workers, the difficulties and hardships,” said Mr. Hai.
Similarly, in the technical building category, reinforced concrete, ground floor beams, and first floor beams have been completed. The construction of the attic floor columns and beams (steel structure roofing floor) is in progress, reaching 30%. Despite the hot weather, at this construction site, workers, engineers, and safety officers are still working enthusiastically. The colorful shirts and safety helmets spread everywhere create a bustling atmosphere at the highest construction site of Long Thanh airport.
At the source station, the concrete pouring of the tank bottom, tank walls, tank lid and waterproofing of the outer wall of the tank have been completed. At the same time, the foundation has been completed and the beams on the ground floor of the source house are being constructed. It is estimated that 60% of the rough concrete volume has been achieved, and the rough reinforced concrete part is expected to be completed by August 15. The primary/secondary Radar Station and the Radio Transmitter Station in the main building have completed the concrete pouring of the roof floor beams and 100% of the rough part, and are being completed.
The radio station and the dependent monitoring station have completed the concrete pouring of the roof beams and the rough construction. The meteorological radar station has completed the foundation, ground floor beams and columns. Currently, the formwork, steel reinforcement, and roof beams are being constructed, estimated at 60% of the rough construction volume. The multi-directional navigation and range measuring station is expected to be deployed this April and is scheduled to complete the rough reinforced concrete construction by August 17.
According to Mr. Hai, the contractor is ensuring the progress of the signed contract, especially the air traffic control tower is ahead of schedule by more than 1 month. Taking advantage of the dry season and favorable weather, we are focusing on human resources to speed up the progress to make up for the upcoming rainy season. It is expected that by November, the reinforced concrete part of the air traffic control tower will reach a height of over 107.88m and the tower will be completed by June 30, 2025.
At the construction site, despite the hot weather, workers still hang high up to do their tasks, enthusiastically, forgetting the harsh sunlight and fatigue.
Smiles still bloom on the lips of engineers and workers at the construction sites of air traffic control projects.
The 24,000 m2 Air Traffic Control Tower and its supporting facilities were built to control aircraft operations at Long Thanh and in the airspace. The tower is designed in the shape of a lotus bud with colors and architecture in harmony with the passenger terminal. The 123 m high control tower has a radar mounted on top, a construction area of about 80 m2, and a tower diameter of 10 m. The equipment is designed with automation technology and has an open orientation for future technology investment.
