Kai Rooney made a name for himself at the Manchester United academy. |
Despite being on summer vacation, Kai was called up to participate in an international tournament, competing against opponents three years older than him. Wayne Rooney's son traveled with the Manchester United U19 team to participate in the Mladen Ramljak Tournament in Croatia, which brings together some of Europe's top football academies.
On his Instagram page, Kai excitedly shared photos from his accommodation in Croatia, along with the message: "The upcoming U19 tournament."
Manchester United's U19 team has been placed in Group A along with Juventus, Rapid Bucuresti, and Dinamo Zagreb. Their first match will be against Rapid Bucuresti of Romania on August 7th. In addition to Kai, the U19 team has also decided to call up several players from the U15 and U16 teams for a trial.
Recently, Rooney's son made a strong impression during Manchester United's U16 team's journey to the final of the NI Super Cup (also known as the Milk Cup). With the ability to play well both as a center forward and a winger, Kai delivered an outstanding performance, scoring and assisting in the opening match.
Kai was a star for the Manchester United U16 team thanks to his mature and sharp goalkeeping skills. However, Manchester United U16 were unable to win the championship, losing 0-1 to Southampton U16 in the final.
Besides Kai, another young talent from MU, JJ Gabriel, has also been called up to the U19 team despite being only 14 years old. JJ Gabriel is dubbed the "Messi of the Carrington academy" after making a strong impression at the U18 team last season and becoming the youngest player to appear for them.
JJ Gabriel will turn 15 in October, making him eligible to play in the Premier League.
