The news of Mr. Hoang Nam Tien’s sudden passing shocked many students and lecturers at FPT University. Many emotional expressions about the talented and dedicated teacher were shared.
MSc. Bui Le Minh - lecturer of finance, FPT University - confided that although he rarely had the opportunity to meet Mr. Hoang Nam Tien directly, every time he met him, he was left with a strong impression because of his enthusiasm, humor and hard-working spirit.
In particular, his shared videos have clearly influenced Mr. Minh's teaching style, as well as inspired many other lecturers in the FPT Edu community.
In Mr. Minh's eyes, Mr. Tien is a person with "strong leadership ability and vision".
From the time he held the role of Chairman of FPT Software, then moved to FPT Telecom, to becoming Vice Chairman of the Board of FPT University, Mr. Tien has left a clear mark in each stage of development of each unit. The organizations he led all recorded positive and sustainable growth.
At work, he always shows a "very to the point" spirit, decisive, clear but still close and humorous.
Many colleagues at FPT education were also surprised and moved by his sudden passing.
MSc. Pham Thi Mai Anh - lecturer of business administration, FPT University Hanoi - said she still clearly remembers Mr. Hoang Nam Tien's sharing in a podcast episode about Mini-MBA produced by the school.
With a gentle, emotional voice, he left many deep impressions through familiar, everyday stories that strongly evoke management thinking and entrepreneurial spirit.
One of the simple examples Ms. Mai Anh mentioned was the story he told about a motorbike taxi driver at the beginning of the alley - who created a competitive advantage over technology drivers by simply lining a white sheet of paper in his helmet to create a sense of cleanliness for customers.
According to her, small lessons like that about the difference, explaining the market value from the story of chicken eggs - duck eggs, or the journey of starting a business by yourself are all conveyed by him in a vivid, easy-to-understand and practical way, especially for FPT students.
For Ms. Mai Anh, the most profound thing about Mr. Hoang Nam Tien is his honesty, not flashy but extremely profound and practical. She believes that this is "a rare quality in an administrator and educator".
Impressions of talk shows by Mr. Hoang Nam Tien
Pham Thi Hue, a student at FPT University in Hanoi, said that although she only met and chatted with Mr. Hoang Nam Tien a few times after the talk shows, that was enough to feel a cheerful, talented and skillful person.
As a student of the school, Hue feels lucky to have the opportunity to be encouraged by him and given the opportunity to express herself in front of a crowd.
Hue said that on those occasions, Mr. Tien gave her two small gifts - not too big of a material souvenir, but with special spiritual meaning for a young student learning to step out of her comfort zone.
"Thank you teacher for cheering me up that day", Hue emotionally shared.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Minh Thu, a student at FPT University in Ho Chi Minh City, shared that the first time she met Mr. Tien was during an exchange session at school.
The conversation was not long, but for Thu, it was a memorable milestone. The teacher's words about reading books, not to memorize, but to see life from different perspectives, made her start to practice the habit of reading every day and learning not for grades.
Thu said she still remembers what her teacher told her: if she just spends a little time each day on herself and her knowledge, after a year she will be very different.
Although we only met a few times, his simplicity, frankness and positive energy instilled in her the spirit of independent and persistent learning.
To Thu, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien is a special teacher, not only teaching knowledge, but also inspiring life.
