Of which, hot rolled coil (HRC) contributed 239,000 tons, the highest since the beginning of the year. With a diverse range of products and good quality, Hoa Phat hot rolled coil is increasingly positively received by domestic and international markets.
Last month, demand for construction steel in Vietnam and around the world remained low. This is the reason why Hoa Phat's output of this product only reached over 214,000 tons, down 28% compared to the same period last year, of which exports contributed 10%.
The Group's steel pipe and galvanized steel products recorded a slight increase compared to April 2022, reaching 49,000 tons and 32,800 tons, respectively.
In the first 4 months, Hoa Phat produced nearly 1.8 million tons of crude steel, down 39% over the same period in 2022. Sales of steel billets, construction steel, high-quality rolled steel, and HRC reached more than 1.8 million tons, down 34% over the first 4 months of 2022. Specifically, construction steel reached more than 1 million tons, down 34%. HRC recorded 721,000 tons, down 29%.
HRC downstream products are steel pipes and galvanized steel sheets reaching 209,000 tons and 102,000 tons respectively, down 20% and 25% respectively compared to the first 4 months of last year. These are deep-processed products from hot-rolled steel coils produced by the Group itself, so Hoa Phat does not count them in its total output.
Hoa Phat's steel production value chain includes many different product lines from crude steel (square billets, flat billets) to finished steel products such as construction steel, high-quality rolled steel, prestressed steel, HRC, cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, steel pipes, and container shells.
In terms of market share, the Group is currently leading the country in construction steel and steel pipes. Galvanized steel is in the Top 5 largest manufacturers in Vietnam.
