On the evening of August 31, at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh province, the 2023/2024 National Football Super Cup took place between the 2023/2024 Night Wolf V-League champion, Nam Dinh Green Steel Club, and the 2023/2024 Casper National Cup champion, Dong A Thanh Hoa Club.

Entering the match, the away team Dong A Thanh Hoa proactively chose a defensive counter-attacking style of play. Thanh Hoa's efforts to turn the situation around ended in the 73rd minute with Rafaelson's goal that sealed the 3-0 win. Trailing by 3 goals and playing with one less player in the 74th minute after Gustavo's red card, Thanh Hoa lost 0-3 overall and failed to defend the National Super Cup title - Thaco Cup 2023/2024, which is also the first Super Cup in Nam Dinh football history.

Nam Dinh Green Steel Club won the Championship Cup with a bonus of 300 million VND, which is a favorable start for them before participating in the AFC Champions League 2024/2025 which will start in mid-September. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa, despite losing the match, also received a bonus of 200 million VND.
