On June 10, Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized the first Thinking Assessment test of the 2023 university admission season with many new features, from security check methods to test formats.
This year's exam attracted 19,225 candidates registered for the exam, which was held at 9 exam clusters: Hanoi (10 universities and academies); Hung Yen, Nam Dinh , Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Da Nang.

This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has switched from the traditional exam format (paper-based, multiple-choice + essay) to online exams on computers at the exam organization's computer labs. The exam format is multiple-choice with many types of questions: Choose the correct option; choose the right or wrong answer; fill in the answer; drag/drop the answer. The Thinking Assessment test has been adjusted to be concise (150 minutes), with 3 test parts: Mathematical thinking (60 minutes), reading comprehension (30 minutes) and scientific thinking/problem solving (60 minutes). The questions are designed according to a thinking scale with 3 levels: Level 1 - Reproducible thinking; Level 2 - Deductive thinking; Level 3 - Higher-order thinking.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trung Kien, Head of Admissions Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said: Candidates take the exam online on computers, the invigilator will use the exam monitoring software throughout the time the candidates log into the exam software and take the exam.
The supervisors of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Thinking Assessment Exam at 9 exam clusters are all thoroughly trained in situations that may occur in the exam room and how to handle them; trained in controlling items allowed in the exam room; and preventing candidates from intentionally cheating and taking photos of exam papers.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology organizes the Computer-Based Thinking Assessment Test, so the School has coordinated with the test organizers to carefully prepare the facilities, such as: Checking the number of computers, computer rooms, and configurations according to requirements; ensuring internet connection; installing test software, test monitoring software; preparing ID card checking equipment, security checks; ensuring that the test rooms have spare computers; test rooms without partitions will be arranged to be spaced apart.

In case a candidate is infected with Covid-19, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will follow the instructions of the Ministry of Health because currently, Covid-19 is considered a common seasonal flu.
At the examination sites, Hanoi University of Science and Technology arranges medical staff on duty during the entire time candidates take the exam. Therefore, candidates with health problems will be examined and treated according to the procedure.
