For many students and teachers of Nguyen Hue High School, Huynh Ngan Giang is no longer a strange name because of her remarkable achievements during her high school years at the school. Giang said that when she was 14 years old, she was examined by doctors and diagnosed with a rare disease called uveitis. Doctors informed her that this is an autoimmune eye disease that causes blurred vision and makes it difficult to see things around her, especially the printed words in textbooks. From that time on, her daily life encountered many difficulties, and her studies were also severely affected. However, with the dream of becoming a tour guide, she did not want to give up her studies and was determined to take the entrance exam to the Faculty of Tourism (now the School of Tourism, Hue University). Overcoming all personal difficulties to achieve good results in 3 years of high school, thinking that the university gate and the dream of becoming a female tour guide were wide open before her eyes, ironically, passing the last months of grade 12, her eye condition suddenly had serious changes. In the days approaching the 2018-2019 National High School Graduation Exam, her case was reported by the Examination Council to the Ministry of Education and Training. Knowing that information, the Ministry of Education and Training prepared a separate set of exam questions for Giang on A3 paper to help her read the exam questions clearly. It can be said that in that exam, Giang was the most "special" candidate in the whole country. A series of unexpected things happened after that, the result of the high school graduation exam, Giang achieved 22.6 points in block D and became the person with the highest entrance score of the Electronic Tourism major, Faculty of Event Management and Communication Technology - School of Tourism (Hue University). Extraordinary determination Talking about the opportunity to come to the Electronic Tourism major, Huynh Ngan Giang said, with 22.6 points in the high school graduation exam in 2019, she passed her wish to become a tour guide, but under the guidance of the school, family and realizing that she was not suitable for that major, she decided to choose to study Electronic Tourism. "In addition, through research, I know that in this major, I will mostly work on computers, which will help me a lot because I have limitations in reading words on paper, using a computer can easily enlarge the words," Giang shared. With extraordinary determination and constant efforts, Giang excelled and became the valedictorian of the industry.
It is known that during her 4 years of university, the rare disease uveitis made her fall into despair many times due to many difficulties in daily life and study. However, with extraordinary determination and to achieve her dream, Giang was encouraged by doctors and her family to undergo two surgeries and many minor surgeries to help maintain her vision. What worries the 20-year-old female student the most is that after each surgery, her eyes, which could only see everything illusory, will suddenly darken, and her dream of traveling everywhere will not be able to come true. "However, I feel very happy that after the surgery everything is fine, although when I was discharged from the hospital, my eyes were still quite weak, but I could still see the light, and I could still see my loved ones, for me that is more than enough. I think there are many people less fortunate than me out there, some people can't even see anything," Giang confided. Notably, despite having an illness that made life difficult, Giang was always an excellent student during her four years at university and received many certificates of merit from Hue University. After four years of study, she also excelled in becoming the valedictorian of her major with an average score of 3.88/4. “In order to study well and achieve high results in the past four years of university, my goal is to attend classes fully and constantly explore and learn. The university environment is different from the high school environment, whether it is general subjects or specialized subjects, I have to focus to achieve the best results,” Giang shared. Mr. Le Van Hoa, Head of the Department of Event Management and Communication Technology at the School of Tourism, said that Ngan Giang is one of the few students with good academic performance in all subjects in the training program. “Giang has the ability to self-study, search for documents and take the initiative in learning new content related to her profession. At the same time, she also enthusiastically participates in the school and faculty's movement activities. Her valedictorian result is a testament to her encouraging efforts and striving,” said Mr. Hoa.Vietnamnet.vn
