Candidates write essay "Every homeland's sky is the Fatherland's sky"

(LĐ online) - The 2025 High School Graduation Literature Exam requires candidates to read and understand the text Different Skies and the understanding of the country's context that is undergoing many great changes, and write an essay on the topic Every homeland's sky is the sky of the Fatherland.

This is the first year that the high school graduation literature exam uses materials other than textbooks. In the general education program and review for the high school graduation exam, students have been taught this way.

The test consists of two parts: Reading Comprehension (4 points) and Writing (6 points). The Reading Comprehension part uses the text "Different Skies" by author Nguyen Minh Chau, then asks about the role of details and the effect of rhetorical devices.

The Writing section has two questions, both based on this work. The literary essay question requires candidates to analyze the feelings of the character Le for Son. The social essay discusses the topic "Every homeland's sky is the Fatherland's sky", based on candidates' understanding of the country's context of great changes.

At Lam Dong's test sites, most candidates were not surprised by this type of question. However, this is an open type of question, to achieve a high score requires candidates to have literary appreciation, grasp changes, and move with the trends of the times. In addition, the test also requires candidates to be interested in and have a deep understanding of social life.

Even though they have studied and practiced, according to the teachers, the students only completed 70 - 80% of the test.

Many candidates appeared relaxed and always smiling when leaving the exam room. Tran Nhat Huy, a student at Tran Phu High School, said that this was not a very difficult test, he predicted that he would get 7 points.

Dao Thuy Linh - a student at Bui Thi Xuan High School said: Young people today are very interested in history, in the development of the country and they express their pride and love for their homeland in their own way. If anyone is willing to learn knowledge beyond the knowledge in school books, they can confidently do the test to meet the requirements.

Many students always smile after completing the Literature exam.

In the 2024 exam, the average Literature score of more than one million candidates was 7.23, the threshold that most students achieved was 8. Nationwide, two candidates scored 10 points; 68 students failed.

In Lam Dong, the total number of candidates taking the Literature exam was 16,814. The number of absent candidates was 66, of which 40 candidates were from the 2018 General Education Program and 26 candidates were from the 2006 General Education Program. In the whole province, at 40 examination sites, there were no other unusual cases.
