(CT) - After a period of decline, the prices of many rice varieties in the Mekong Delta have now increased again by at least 100-300 VND/kg compared to nearly a month ago. Fresh IR 50404 and OM 380 rice is currently being sold by farmers in many localities to traders and businesses at 5,300-5,800 VND/kg, while previously it was 5,200-5,600 VND/kg. Fresh OM 5451 rice is being sold by farmers in many places at 5,800-6,000 VND/kg, while fresh OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 rice are priced at 6,100-6,400 VND/kg… The increase in rice prices is due to reduced supply as the summer-autumn rice crop in many areas has been completely harvested and farmers have sold all their post-harvest rice. Nevertheless, the prices of most rice varieties are still about 1,200-1,300 VND/kg lower than the same period in 2024.

(CT) - Compared to a month ago, the price of live pigs in many localities in the Mekong Delta has decreased further by 1,000-3,000 VND/kg, reaching 70,000-71,000 VND/kg. This price is currently about 10,000-11,000 VND/kg lower than the peak price of 80,000-82,000 VND/kg in the early months of the year. The price decrease is due to increased supply as more pigs reach maturity for sale, as well as the fact that many businesses and individuals have increased pig farming recently. In addition, pork consumption in many places has slowed down recently as people switch to other cheaper meat products, which also contributes to the decrease in live pig and pork prices. However, the current price of live pigs is still about 4,000-5,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year.
