Gold prices today, February 13, 2025: While world gold prices are regaining momentum, domestic gold prices have fallen sharply by more than 1 million VND per ounce in both buying and selling prices.

As of 4:30 AM on February 13, 2025, the gold prices on the exchanges of several companies were as follows:
At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), the price of gold bars was listed at 86.7-90.2 million VND/ounce (selling price), a decrease of 300,000 VND/ounce in the selling price and a decrease of 1.3 million VND/ounce in the buying price compared to the close of yesterday's trading session.
DOJI's system listed SJC gold at a buying price of 86.7 million VND/ounce and a selling price of 90.2 million VND/ounce. This represents a sharp decrease of 1.3 million VND/ounce in the buying price and 300,000 VND/ounce in the selling price compared to yesterday.
Meanwhile, at Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the listed price of SJC gold at the time of survey was 88.3-89.7 million VND/ounce for buying and selling. Compared to yesterday, the price increased by 200,000 VND/ounce for buying and decreased by 200,000 VND/ounce for selling.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd., the price of SJC gold is being traded at 86.7-90.2 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), a decrease of 1.3 million VND/ounce in the buying price and a decrease of 300,000 VND/ounce in the selling price compared to yesterday.
At Phu Quy, SJC gold prices are being traded at 86.7-90.2 million VND/ounce (buy-sell), a decrease of 1.5 million VND/ounce in the buying price and 500,000 VND/ounce in the selling price compared to yesterday.

According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 4:30 AM Vietnam time today was $2,902.76 USD/ounce. The price of gold remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Converted using the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,606 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately 89.6 million VND/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is currently about 600,000 VND/ounce higher than the international gold price.

According to Reuters, global gold prices stabilized on Wednesday, driven by safe-haven demand amid concerns about a global trade war triggered by new tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, as markets digested higher-than-expected US inflation data.
Spot gold prices remained stable at $2,895.30 per ounce as of 2:39 p.m. Eastern Time (1939 GMT). US gold futures fell 0.1% to $2,928.70.
Gold prices fell more than 1% after data showed the US consumer price index rose 0.5% last month, higher than expected, reinforcing the Federal Reserve's message that it is not in a hurry to cut interest rates again amid increasing economic uncertainty.
"With today's CPI data being higher than expected, that has put pressure on the gold market. Clearly, at this point, any market expectations of any kind of interest rate cut later this year have been dashed," said David Meger, director of metals trading at High Ridge Futures.
Higher interest rates tend to put pressure on gold bullion, increasing the opportunity cost because gold bullion does not yield interest.
Peter Grant, vice president and senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals, said: "While the higher interest rate narrative has put some pressure on gold, the trend remains positive and trade concerns continue to dominate the market."
Following the 25% increase in tariffs on steel and aluminum earlier this week, advisors to U.S. President Donald Trump are now finalizing plans to implement reciprocal tariffs.
Gold prices have entered uncharted territory as buyers cling to the economic uncertainty created by the US import tariff plan, but behind the record price of $3,000 per ounce, some signs of a downtrend are also emerging.
Daniel Pavilonis, senior market strategist at RJO Futures, said that despite the minor sell-off, even a drop of a few hundred dollars from near $3,000 wouldn't be catastrophic. He added that with concerns about inflation, debt, and geopolitics, people still want to invest in gold.
Spot silver prices rose 1.1% to $32.17 per ounce and palladium prices fell 0.2% to $973.74, while platinum prices increased 0.6% to $989.43.
