Image believed to be the back design of the iPhone 17 Pro Max Photo: Majin Bu . |
On the evening of March 14, rumor expert Majin Bu posted an image of a metal part that confirmed the iPhone 17 Pro Max was ready for mass production.
Based on the image, it seems that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a rectangular camera cluster, reminiscent of the Google Pixel 9. Previously, this rumor expert also revealed render images (graphics) based on leaked computer graphics (CAD) renderings of the new generation of iPhones including iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
MacRumors suggests the photo was likely taken on an assembly line, concluding that it shows “CNC-machined aluminum or titanium frame components” for the phone.
This means that the components on the iPhone 17 Pro Max may have been CNC machined in one piece. If this hypothesis is true, it is very likely that Apple's 2025 flagship is ready for further processing stages such as machining or additional coatings.
However, AppleInsider has a different opinion, saying that the frame in this photo can be used to produce cases and not parts of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
PhoneArena agrees with this opinion and points out two main factors. First, since the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple has not used a unibody frame, but instead has separate panels that do not cover the entire body.
Additionally, the leaked metal part has a lot of protrusions around the cutouts, which obviously wouldn’t fit in well given that the iPhone’s design doesn’t have enough room for these protrusions.
