The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that today, August 19, the weather in the North and Thanh Hoa will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places.

Specifically, from last evening and night to tonight, August 19, the average rainfall was 50 - 150mm, with some places experiencing very heavy rain of over 300mm.

From Nghe An to Ha Tinh , moderate rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain in some places and scattered thunderstorms.

Quang Tri to Hue and the South Central Coast have scattered showers and thunderstorms.

The Central Highlands and the South will be cloudy with intermittent sunshine, with occasional showers and thunderstorms in some places, and heavy rain in some places in the evening. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

This morning, a tropical depression is active in the coastal area of Quang Ninh to Hai Phong. The Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vi, Cat Hai, Co To and Van Don special zones) has thunderstorms and strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9, waves 2-3.5m high, rough seas.

Ships in the danger zone are likely to be affected by storms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves. On land, coastal areas of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong have winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 8.

By this afternoon, the tropical depression weakened into a low pressure area over Guangxi (China).
