Spacious, clean and beautiful

Previously, the 500-meter-long road in Nha Tho hamlet was seriously degraded, affecting people's travel. With the determination to build an advanced new rural area and the support of the government, households in the hamlet voluntarily contributed funds to widen the road. In mid-2023, the road was officially put into use to the joy and excitement of the people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien in Nha Tho hamlet said that instead of pouring concrete, the people in the hamlet paved 100% of the road with asphalt to serve the needs of people traveling and transporting goods. The road surface was not only widened from 2m to 4m but also had an underground drainage system. To ensure safety at night, the hamlet moved electric poles and installed lighting systems. The total investment capital of the projects was over 400 million VND, of which the people contributed 60% of the cost. The spacious and clean village roads and alleys have changed the appearance of the countryside.

From 2023 to 2024, the people of Dong village have upgraded and expanded 10 traffic routes. Of which, 6 routes have been paved with asphalt with a total cost of nearly 1.5 billion VND. In 2024, the village and people continued to invest in installing a high-pressure lighting system and decorative lights nearly 1 km long with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND. This is a project that contributes to creating landscapes and enhancing the value of two famous historical sites: the Memorial House of VicePresident Nguyen Luong Bang and Dong Communal House.

Thanks to the contribution and cooperation of the people, up to now, the traffic system in Dong village has been 100% concreted and asphalted, fully meeting the criteria of a model new rural area. Walking on the new, spacious and clean roads, Ms. Pham Thi Hoai, Secretary of the Dong village Party Cell proudly said: "The traffic infrastructure in the village has been built synchronously, directly connected to Provincial Road 392, creating favorable conditions for people to develop the economy . People's lives are increasingly improved and enhanced".

100% of households in Dong village have trash cans to ensure environmental hygiene.

Currently, Dong village has over 95% of households with solid, high-rise houses. The village is also a typical locality of the district when it has established 4 inter-family groups on fire prevention and fighting with about 200 households participating. 14 hamlets have self-managed groups on security, order and environmental sanitation. The camera system is increasingly expanded, contributing to maintaining and ensuring security and order in the locality.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Dong village said: "Environmental sanitation is of special concern to villagers. Instead of leaving garbage in piles at collection points, 100% of households in the village have garbage bins in front of their gates. The family's domestic wastewater drainage system is directly connected to the underground traffic drainage system. Thanks to that, the village roads are always clean, ensuring environmental sanitation."

Improved living

With the advantage of being located next to Provincial Road 392 and near the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway intersection, nearly 300 households in Dong village focus on developing trade and services, contributing to increasing income and improving life. In 2024, the average income per capita in Dong village will reach 84 million VND/person/year, an increase of about 5 million VND compared to 2023. The poverty rate will decrease to less than 1%.

With economic development, households in the village pay more attention to on-site fire prevention and fighting. To proactively protect their property, nearly 200 households have joined 4 inter-family fire prevention and fighting groups. Security, order and traffic safety have been enhanced and consolidated thanks to the security camera system installed by the people.

Villages and alleys in Dong village — The village roads and alleys in Dong village are always clean and tidy.

According to Ms. Hoai, for many years in Dong village, there have been no fires, thefts, law violations, or mass complaints. Promoting the tradition of this land of talented people, the work of encouraging learning and talent is highly valued by the people here. Currently, all clans in the village have established a regular Learning Promotion Fund to encourage and help students with difficult circumstances who have achieved good academic results. Cultural entertainment venues are invested in by the people, contributing to improving their spiritual life.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ban in Team 5, Dong village said that before, near the dragon eye well area was a low-lying area with overgrown grass while children in the village lacked places to play and entertain. With the desire to create a landscape highlight, households in the village requested the commune to renovate this area into a sports playground with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND. Currently, in addition to the central stadium, Dong village has also built 3 public cultural activity spots, fully meeting the needs of sports, culture and arts of the people.

According to the leader of Thanh Tung Commune People's Committee, Dong village currently has nearly 800 households with 2,800 people. Over the past years, the government and people in the village have united and joined hands to build increasingly spacious and synchronous infrastructure.

This is also a typical locality of the commune in building advanced new rural areas, a model new rural area of Thanh Mien district. With landscapes, bright - green - clean - beautiful space and rich cultural life, the people of Dong village are creating a "street in the village".
