Official information on 'laser lithotripsy during machine failure'

Regarding the laser lithotripsy despite the broken machine, the Standing Committee of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee assigned the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee to inspect when there were signs of violations by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Highlands General Hospital.

Regarding the incident of "255 cases of laser lithotripsy during machine breakdown," on September 19, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province issued a press release about a number of violations in medical examination and treatment activities at the Department of Nephrology and Urology, Central Highlands General Hospital.

The Standing Committee of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee has assigned the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee to inspect when there are signs of violations against the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Highlands General Hospital and assigned the Provincial Police Party Committee to direct the continued investigation and handling of the case to ensure strictness, no forbidden areas, no exceptions and in accordance with the provisions of law.

The above incident was discovered on July 22, 2025 through the inspection activities of the Inspection Team of the Department of Health on the inspection and evaluation of professional activities of the Central Highlands General Hospital.

Based on the conclusion of the Inspection Team, the Department of Health directed the Central Highlands General Hospital to correct existing shortcomings and violations and review and clarify the responsibilities of related organizations and individuals.

On August 20, 2025, the Disciplinary Council of the Central Highlands General Hospital met, reviewed and initially decided to discipline 3 doctors and 1 nurse related to the incident.

The Department of Health and the Central Highlands General Hospital coordinate to provide complete and timely relevant records and documents to the investigation agency and Dak Lak Provincial Police to conduct the investigation in accordance with the provisions of law.

Previously, from March 28, 2024 to May 15, 2024 and from May 28, 2024 to December 31, 2024, the laser lithotripsy machine of the Central Highlands General Hospital was broken, but the payment records still performed the "laser lithotripsy" technical service for 255 cases treated at the Department of Nephrology and Urology./.
