According to a report from The Elec , LG Innotek has invested approximately $267.4 million in new camera module manufacturing facilities. These components will be supplied to the iPhone 17 generation that Apple will unveil in 2025.
This source has revealed that the camera system on the iPhone 17 will have better specifications than its predecessor. However, only the Pro versions will be equipped with a telephoto lens.
This means the iPhone 17 Air will not be equipped with a lens capable of optical zoom. Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also revealed that this ultra-thin iPhone would only integrate a single lens.
The phone's slimness largely depends on the size of the battery integrated inside the device. Apple is reportedly facing significant technical challenges in manufacturing the battery for the 17 Air.
According to MacRumors , the battery in the iPhone 17 Air will not be as thin as Apple had anticipated. Currently, the battery in this ultra-thin iPhone model is said to be around 6mm thick. Therefore, the thickness of the device will be greater than this figure.
To date, the iPhone 6 remains the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever produced, measuring just 6.9mm in thickness. It's likely that the iPhone 17 Air's thickness won't differ significantly from the model released in 2014.
