Recently, the City Tax Department has received a number of complaints from citizens regarding the time limit for processing personal income tax (PIT) refund dossiers of the Tax Department through the "Question and Answer" section on the Da Nang City Electronic Information Portal and the Da Nang Smart Information and Operation Monitoring Center (Call Center 1022).
Regarding the time limit for processing personal income tax refund applications at the Da Nang City Tax Department, due to the number of personal income tax refund applications that taxpayers send to tax authorities with a rapid increase over the years.
In addition, the large number of dossiers submitted by many taxpayers at the same time has created great pressure in resolving tax refunds (in April and May 2023 alone, the last months of dossier submission, the tax authority received nearly 1,900 dossiers; in April and May 2024, nearly 11,000 dossiers).
Therefore, on March 19, 2024, the Tax Department issued Official Dispatch No. 2943/CTDAN-HKDCN reporting to the General Department of Taxation and the People's Committee of Da Nang City on the above situation and the delay in resolving personal income tax refunds.
The settlement of personal income tax refunds for taxpayers will be carried out by the Tax Department in the following order: The Tax Department will settle tax refunds for taxpayers in the order of time the taxpayer sends the dossiers to the Tax authority, so the number of days to settle tax refunds for taxpayers may not be in accordance with regulations (06 days); Check the tax refund dossiers sent by taxpayers, if the dossiers ensure correct procedures and data, the tax refund will be settled, if the dossiers do not ensure the requirements according to regulations, the Tax Department will issue a Notice of non-acceptance of the taxpayer's tax refund request.
On April 5, 2024, the Tax Department posted a notice on the industry's website about the delay in processing personal income tax refund dossiers for individuals at https://danang.gdt.gov.vn/ in the "Tax Department News" section (Notice of delay in processing personal income tax refund dossiers). Accordingly, due to the above objective practical conditions, the Tax Department will try to coordinate human resources and time in possible conditions to process tax refunds for taxpayers as soon as possible.
At the same time, the Tax Department sent a mass email to individuals who submitted personal income tax refund dossiers to notify them of the time the tax authority would take to process their tax refund dossiers and apologize to taxpayers if the processing time was delayed or not within the prescribed time.
