The Royal Bridge (also known as the Chai Machine Bridge) is nearly 2.2 km long, 21 m wide with 4 lanes, and the approach bridges on both sides are 17.5 m wide. The project is designed according to the idea of " World Gateway Bridge", featuring two 89 m high bridge towers, leaning towards the river like a pair of bird wings rising, expressing the desire for integration and development. The cable-stayed design is like a "harp" with 24 strings per tower, the main span is 200 m long, divided into 17 segments, the navigation height is up to 25 m, ensuring safety for international cargo ships passing through. In particular, the approach road at Vu Yen bank is designed in a circle with a radius of 75 m, along with an electric vehicle charging station and parking lot right under the bridge - a breakthrough highlight supporting green transportation.
This is the 6th bridge across the Cam River, but the first bridge directly connecting the old center with Vu Yen Island, opening a new urban center in the southeast of Hai Phong .
Before the Royal Bridge, the distance between the old center and Vu Yen Island took up to 30 minutes. With the Royal Bridge, the travel time from Vu Yen to the city center has been shortened to about 5 minutes. In addition, the bridge also directly connects the main axis of the Vinhomes Royal Island project with Le Thanh Tong Street, increasing the potential for urban, service and tourism development here. The bridge is expected to promote economic development, contributing to making Vu Yen Island one of the new growth poles of Hai Phong, especially after the milestone of expanding administrative boundaries on July 1.
The project starts at Vu Yen Island, directly connecting to Vu Yen Park walking street; the end point intersects with Le Thanh Tong Street (Gia Vien Ward, Hai Phong City). The strategic traffic connection helps people move conveniently, while contributing to affirming Vu Yen's position in the development space of Thuy Nguyen - the new administrative center of Hai Phong.
With the completion of infrastructure, real estate projects on Vu Yen Island such as Vinhomes Royal Island are assessed to have favorable factors. The project benefits from Hai Phong becoming the third highest GRDP city in the country, after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and the orientation to build the only free trade zone in the North.
In terms of transportation, this area has a diverse connection network, including Hoang Gia Bridge, Vu Yen Bridge, Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh - Mong Cai Expressway, Cat Bi Airport and the inter-regional belt road system.
The project is also expected to attract a large number of tourists thanks to outstanding amenities such as the 36-hole Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong golf course, Vinpearl Horse Academy, Vinhomes Royal Island marina, VinWonders Vu Yen theme park and Vincom Mega Mall Royal Island shopping center, expected to open in the third quarter.

In the coming time, a series of key infrastructure projects such as Nguyen Trai bridge across Cam river, expansion of Nguyen Trai street, construction of road along Cam river, relocation of Hoang Dieu port and improvement of surrounding areas... will continue to create development momentum for Vu Yen island in particular and Thuy Nguyen area in general.
