Road connecting Binh Thuan Province is open to traffic.

The 14.5km Me Pu - Da Kai road, recently upgraded and expanded, connects the two provinces of Binh Thuan and Dong Nai , opening ahead of schedule to ensure convenient and safe travel for people during the Tet holiday.

On January 27th (28th day of the Lunar New Year), information from the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Projects in Binh Thuan province indicated that the expansion project of the Me Pu - Da Kai road, connecting Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces, will officially open to traffic before the Lunar New Year 2025, 10 months ahead of schedule.

The Me Pu - Da Kai road, connecting Duc Linh district (Binh Thuan province) to National Highway 20 in Tan Phu district (Dong Nai province), has officially opened to traffic.

According to the Binh Thuan Provincial Project Management Board for Transportation Works (the investor), the project to upgrade and expand the Me Pu - Da Kai road has a length of approximately 14.5km.

The project includes the renovation of two bridges: Da Kai at Km 7+700 and Da Kai 2 at Km 8+510, both made of reinforced concrete and 12m wide. The total investment is over 132 billion VND.

"The project, completed before Tet, is 10 months ahead of schedule compared to the contract's completion date of the end of November 2025, facilitating convenient travel and trade between Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Transportation Works in Binh Thuan province.

Engineer Tran Van Tan, the project manager (Viet Hoa Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company - the contractor), said that by the end of 2024, the entire route had been paved with asphalt, opening the main road.

"The two bridges on the new route have just had their piers completed. In order to race against time to finish and open to traffic before Tet in January 2025, bridge workers are working overtime and in shifts day and night," engineer Tan said.

The Da Kai Bridge has just been completed and will be open to traffic before the Lunar New Year 2025.

According to residents of Da Kai commune, for many years, not only people in the area but also those in neighboring communes such as Sung Nhon and Me Pu (Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province) have had to endure this "road of suffering."

Mr. Ha Van Thuan, chairman of the Da Kai commune People's Committee, said that previously the road was in poor condition and unsafe. When the project was announced, the local government encouraged residents to hand over the land early so that the contractor could begin construction.

Now that the road has been widened, is well-maintained, and has complete signage and road markings, officially opening to traffic before Tet, the people are very happy.

With improved traffic flow and the opening of major roads, along with the planned access roads connecting to the Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressway, the transportation landscape will be transformed.

In addition, the district is a region that grows fruits, rice, durian, and many other agricultural products. The opening of major roads greatly facilitates transportation and increases competitiveness.

"The local authorities are encouraging people to leverage the strengths of their agricultural products through a model that combines production and tourism business, investing in orchard and ecological models to develop the local economy ," said Mr. Ha Van Thuan.

The project to upgrade and expand the Me Pu - Da Kai road commenced in December 2023. The road has a width of 9m, a surface width of 8m, and a shoulder width of 0.5m on each side.

The 14.5km long road connects to National Highway 20 (QL20). This is the shortest route for people in Duc Linh and Tanh Linh districts (Binh Thuan province) to travel to Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts (Dong Nai province) and to connect to QL20 leading to Da Huoai district (Lam Dong province).
