Many positive results
With attractive potentials and advantages, since the beginning of 2025, many large investors have begun to propose research to invest in new projects in Quang Tri .
In January 2025, SAM Holding Joint Stock Company proposed to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to study the investment in the project of high-end residential, resort, sports and entertainment complex in Gio Linh district. According to the proposal of SAM Holding, the project of high-end residential, resort, sports and entertainment complex will have a scale of about 1,800 hectares, built in Gio My, Gio Hai, Trung Giang communes (Gio Linh district) with a total investment of 102,865 billion VND.

Next, in February 2025, the consortium of investors T&T Group Joint Stock Company and SK E&S Company Limited (Korea) also proposed to invest in the Quang Tri LNG Thermal Power Plant project. At the meeting with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, the consortium of investors proposed that the People's Committee of Quang Tri province support and send a written recommendation to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government on the proposal to convert the fuel of the Quang Tri Thermal Power Plant project (total investment of more than 2 billion USD) from coal to LNG and add it to the adjusted power plan VIII.
For this project, not only the consortium of investors T&T Group Corporation and SK E&S Company Limited has "ambition", but on February 7, 2025, Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) under Vietnam Electricity Group also officially sent a document to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province proposing to assign the project to this unit as the investor.
In addition to the two proposed major projects mentioned above, in the first half of 2025, Quang Tri also approved investment in many other new projects, typically: SCI Huong Viet Wind Power Plant (1,018.51 billion VND); Investment in infrastructure of Quan Ngang Industrial Park, phase 3 (704 billion VND); Investment in technical infrastructure of Gio Linh Industrial Cluster (293.4 billion VND); Industrial waste treatment plant in Hai Lang district (406.2 billion VND); infrastructure of Cam Thanh Industrial Cluster expansion in Cam Lo district (385.746 billion VND); Pet food factory in Dong Gio Linh Industrial Cluster (495 billion VND)...
In addition, the project of Investment in construction and business of infrastructure of Tay Bac Ho Xa Industrial Park in Vinh Linh district has recently been adjusted by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, increasing the capital from 925 billion VND to 1,250 billion VND. And another project, General Hospital 245, invested by Hoan My Medical Services Joint Stock Company (450 billion VND), also started construction last May.
New push
It can be said that the positive results in attracting investment to Quang Tri province in recent times are the result of drastic policies to improve the investment and business environment, support business development; at the same time, demonstrate the great efforts of Quang Tri province in investment promotion.
According to the Quang Tri Department of Finance, in 2024, 53 projects in the province were approved for investment or granted investment registration certificates with a total capital of up to 14,370.85 billion VND. Some typical projects include: Project to build a conveyor system to transport coal from Laos to Vietnam on the Vietnamese territory (1,489.3 billion VND); RAS high-tech shrimp farming project (883.5 billion VND); Energy wood pellet factory project (465 billion VND); KIDOS animal feed factory project (350 billion VND);...
According to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, in addition to new projects, a number of key projects with driving force in the province are currently being actively implemented by investors such as: Quang Tri Airport (over 5,800 billion VND), Quang Tri Industrial Park (about 2,000 billion VND), My Thuy Port Area (over 14,234 billion VND) ...

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tan, Director of the Quang Tri Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, said that in 2025, Quang Tri province will focus on attracting investment in key areas and projects, especially the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone and My Thuy seaport, as well as encouraging investment in areas such as high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism, smart cities, materials for the semiconductor industry and marine economic development.
According to Mr. Tan, in the coming time, Quang Tri will continue to strengthen connections with international investors (Singapore, Korea, Japan, Thailand, EU...); organize connections with key businesses and investors in major economic centers of the country, especially businesses and investors operating in the fields of semiconductors, green hydrogen, data centers. Organize working trips with organizations such as: VCCI, JETRO, KOTRA, JICA, EUROCHAM, THAICHAM,... to introduce potential and attract investors to survey and research investment in Quang Tri province.
At the same time, the province will continue to promote support for investors who have been granted investment certificates to implement projects; actively support and connect investors who are researching and learning about investment in the province.
A new push that is expected to have a major impact on attracting investment to Quang Tri province in the near future is the merger of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces. According to experts, with the completion of the merger of the two provinces, this will be a very favorable condition for the new Quang Tri province to have more space for development as well as to maximize its great potential advantages in attracting investment.
Architect Pham Xuan Thanh, Director of Binh An Architecture and Construction Investment Company Limited, acknowledged that the new province possesses all types of strategic transportation including 2 airports (Dong Hoi - being upgraded and expanded, Quang Tri - under construction), 2 deep-water seaports (Hon La, My Thuy), 3 international border gates (Cha Lo, La Lay, Lao Bao) and a multi-dimensional transportation network connecting from the sea to the border. This infrastructure system will create ideal conditions for the formation of inter-regional and transnational logistics chains, while creating conditions to attract strong investment in industrial parks and key economic zones such as Hon La, Southeast Quang Tri, Cha Lo, Lao Bao.
“With the new scale, the province can develop specific policies to attract investment, such as developing high-tech zones, service-industrial-logistics urban clusters, incentives for innovative and green technology enterprises... In particular, the consumer market of over 1.8 million people combined with the ASEAN gateway is an attractive factor to attract investment from retail, real estate, trade and service, processing and export industry corporations,” said Architect Thanh.
