The runner-up is Nguyen Ngoc Huyen Trang, a student at Nguyen Luong Bang Secondary School (scores: Literature 8.25; Math 10; English 9.88). All three students were admitted to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted. Sharing with Vietnamnet, Ngo Dang Huy Ba said he was very surprised and happy to know that he was the city's valedictorian. "I was not surprised by the score but I did not think I was the valedictorian," Huy Ba said. Of the three subjects, Ba is confident in Math and English. He is sure to get 10 points in these two subjects after finishing the exam. Sharing the secret to getting high scores, Ba said that for any subject, he listens carefully to the lecture, grasps the knowledge in class and does many exercises and practice questions to memorize. For English, focus on learning vocabulary and grammar, avoiding small mistakes. For Math, solve many exercises, identify mistakes and redo similar exercises. When doing the test, Ba did each question confidently, doing the easy questions first and the difficult ones later.

Ba said that he spends 4 hours every night studying, from 8pm to midnight. In addition to the time spent at school, he also attends extra classes. In particular, about 2-3 weeks before the exam, he focuses all his time on reviewing Literature. “Literature is the subject I worry about the most. That is why I spend a lot of time before the exam to overcome my weaknesses. During the study process, I have a firm grasp of the knowledge and practice writing a lot, so I learn quite quickly,” Ba said. Huy Ba said that he will study Mathematics at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, which he loves and pursues. Ms. Pham Thi Oanh, the homeroom teacher, commented that Ngo Dang Huy Ba is a well-behaved, polite, studious student and an active, lively, and enthusiastic class monitor. “Ba is good at all subjects, modest, and lives in harmony with his friends. In addition to being good at studying, Ba also participates in all school activities such as soccer, performing arts, etc. To me, Ba is a perfect student,” Ms. Oanh proudly said. During the 9th grade, the male student won 2 awards: Second Prize in the city for Math; Gold Prize in VioEdu Arena in Da Nang City. Ms. Oanh also said that Literature is not Ba’s talent subject, but he is still one of the top students in the class in this subject. “Ba’s ability to remember and think is very good, so his knowledge of Literature is more solid than his friends,” Ms. Oanh said.
