On August 1, the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) coordinated with the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to organize a flight to inspect and evaluate flight procedures at Long Thanh after completing a number of items related to the flight management signal system.

According to VATM, the purpose of the flight is to evaluate the flyability and test the impact of signal interference on the accuracy and strength of the navigation systems. The test content is carried out according to the list of flight methods approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Specifically, the assessment focuses on the accuracy and integrity of the navigation database such as obstacles, terrain, navigation stations, and other obstruction factors that may affect flight operations.
The flight was performed using a Beechcraft King Air 350ER aircraft. This aircraft is often used to test and calibrate runway lighting systems, precision approach systems (ILS), navigation lights, landing lights and a number of other information and monitoring equipment.
Flight operations began on July 31, with a total estimated duration of approximately 12.5 hours and are subject to flexible adjustments based on weather conditions. As of the morning of August 1, the first two flights had been completed, each taking off from Tan Son Nhat Airport, conducting inspections in Long Thanh airspace, and then returning to Tan Son Nhat for landing.
Phase one of Long Thanh airport currently has 68 flight procedures, including 27 departure procedures (SID), 33 arrival procedures (STAR) and 8 landing approach procedures (IAP). Data from the test flights will be analyzed to assess the accuracy and stability before conducting calibration flights in October and officially putting into operation from early 2026.
Long Thanh Airport is a national key project with a total area of 5,000 hectares and an investment capital of nearly VND336,630 billion. Although the National Assembly has agreed to postpone the completion of phase one of the project until the end of 2026, the Prime Minister has repeatedly requested units to speed up progress and overcome difficulties to basically complete the airport this year.
