For many people, trash is just trash, but Leonardo Urbano (living in Australia) can make a lot of money from it. In 2023, Leonardo Urbano went to pick through trash in Sydney (Australia) and earned 100,000 USD (2.5 billion VND).
The items he got were Fendi bags, coffee machines, gold jewelry, cash and other items...
Every day, after breakfast, Urbano will cycle or drive his car to pick up trash along the streets of Sydney. He said that each day brings a different interesting experience.
"The landfill is a place where things like refrigerators, clothes, chairs... You can find literally mountains of stuff there," the Australian guy confided.
In Australia, local authorities provide free rubbish collection more than twice a year. People often take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of bulky items. Thanks to this, Urbano can find computers, vacuum cleaners, etc. that people have thrown away but are still in good condition. Even wealthy families are willing to buy new furniture even if the old ones are still intact.

After rummaging through the trash, Leonardo Urbano picked out some usable items for himself. The rest he sold on social media to customers in need.
Because his home is not spacious, Leonardo Urbano tries to sell all the items he finds within 1-2 weeks. If he can't sell them, he will give them away for free to make room for the new finds.
According to Leonardo Urbano, when people receive the items he gives away, they recycle them for use. His acquaintances were surprised to learn that many new clothes were still thrown in the trash, and some bags still had money inside.
Not long ago, Urbano sold a Fendi handbag for $200. Whenever he finds a used item with a brand logo, he researches and verifies it thoroughly so he can sell it at the right price.
According to statistics, in 2023, this guy found more than 50 televisions, 30 refrigerators, more than 20 washing machines, 50 computers, 15 chairs, 50 vacuum cleaners, more than 150 potted plants, more than 100 types of lamps and decorations, and 849 USD in cash (more than 21 million VND).
This unwanted job helps Urbano pay his rent and living expenses. In addition, many of the items in his apartment are salvaged from the landfill, rather than having to buy new ones.

Currently, Urbano continues to diligently do his job of digging through trash in a modern, wealthy city like Sydney. Many people think that it is not a very interesting job, but for this guy, every day is a journey, discovering many new things.
