Viet Duc Hospital ( Hanoi ) announced on May 2 that from May 1, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan will concurrently be in charge of and operate Viet Duc Hospital according to the assignment of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health and the Minister of Health after Professor, Dr. Tran Binh Giang, director of this hospital, retired according to the regime.
Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan is currently one of the five Deputy Ministers of Health. Before becoming Deputy Minister of Health in May 2020, Mr. Thuan was the Director of the Central Cancer Hospital, the country's leading specialized facility in cancer prevention and treatment.

Previously, in April 2015, the Ministry of Health assigned Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien, then Deputy Minister of Health, to concurrently hold the position of Executive Director of Viet Duc Hospital after the hospital's director retired.
After more than 1 year, Viet Duc Hospital was managed by the Deputy Minister of Health. In August 2016, the Ministry of Health handed over the decision to assign the responsibility of managing the hospital to Professor, Dr. Tran Binh Giang, Deputy Director of Viet Duc Hospital. In December 2016, Professor Giang was appointed to the position of Director of Viet Duc Hospital.
Viet Duc Hospital is a special surgical hospital under the Ministry of Health. It is also a leading medical examination and treatment, training, scientific and medical research center with advanced expertise, modern equipment and professional services.
In 2022, Viet Duc Hospital will perform nearly 80,000 surgeries, mainly on severe and complicated cases. The hospital is a leader in the country in multi-organ transplants such as: liver transplants, heart transplants, kidney transplants, lung transplants... and deploys many medical services to improve service quality.
