(MPI) - On the afternoon of August 26, 2024, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment , Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc received Mr. OHMURA Hideaki, Governor of Aichi Prefecture, Japan, who is on a working visit to Vietnam. Welcoming Governor OHMURA Hideaki to work at the Ministry of Planning and Investment to discuss the cooperation situation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc believes that the visit will contribute to promoting bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, as well as the relationship between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Aichi province to become more in-depth, effective and substantive.
According to data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Aichi prefecture enterprises have invested in 230 projects worth nearly 1.5 billion USD in Vietnam, mainly in the processing and manufacturing industry, and are increasingly diversified in scale and implementing effective investment activities such as Toyota Motor Corporation, Denso, Mitsubishi Aircraft and Brother Industries.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc suggested that in the coming time, the Aichi provincial government and Governor OMURA Hideaki continue to pay attention and promote stronger investment in areas where Aichi has strengths and Vietnam is looking forward to such as manufacturing industry, supporting industry, etc. and organize exchange activities and further strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities.
The Deputy Minister also suggested that the Governor encourage large Japanese enterprises and corporations to cooperate and set up offices at the National Innovation Center (NIC) of the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Hoa Lac to discuss and exchange opportunities to attract investment in high-tech, advanced technology and innovation projects; affirming that the Ministry of Planning and Investment will create favorable conditions for Japanese enterprises to invest and do business successfully here.
Governor of Aichi Prefecture OMURA Hideaki informed Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc about cooperation activities with Vietnam and said that Aichi Prefecture has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and a Memorandum of Understanding on friendly cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City.
On this occasion, the Governor thanked the Ministry of Planning and Investment for its close coordination through the Aichi Support Desk to actively support the production and business activities of Aichi prefecture enterprises operating in Vietnam. Currently, Aichi prefecture ranks first among Japanese localities with enterprises investing in Vietnam with about more than 200 enterprises.
Mr. OMURA Hideaki also emphasized that Aichi province has welcomed many Vietnamese people to live and work; he hopes that cooperation between Aichi province and Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities will continue to expand in the future and contribute more to the socio -economic development of Vietnam./.
