Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrives in Hanoi, starting official visit to Vietnam

At noon on June 3, the plane carrying Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian delegation landed at Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi ), starting an official visit to Vietnam from June 3-4, 2023 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

This is Mr. Anthony Albanese's first official visit to Vietnam since taking office and just 2 months after the state visit of Australian Governor-General David Hurley, demonstrating Australia's importance in relations with Vietnam.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were Minister and Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet; leaders of the Southeast Asia-South Asia-South Pacific Department, Department of State Protocol (Ministry of Foreign Affairs); Australian Ambassador to Vietnam and a number of officials from the Australian Embassy in Hanoi.

Accompanying Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his visit to Vietnam were: Chief of the Prime Minister's Office Tim Gartrell, International Affairs Adviser Kathy Klugman, Director of International Affairs Craig Chittick, Director of Digital Affairs Austin Phillips, National Security and International Affairs Adviser Hayley Limbrick, and Southeast Asia Affairs Adviser Jessica Bowen-Thomas.

During the visit, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian delegation will lay wreaths and visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; attend the official welcoming ceremony; have a meeting between the two Prime Ministers; hold talks; exchange documents; meet the press; meet with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; visit and interact with the Australian and Vietnamese women's football teams with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; and attend an official reception.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is expected to have a number of sideline activities such as visiting and enjoying Hanoi's culinary arts; visiting RMIT University; and visiting the United Nations International School of Hanoi (UNIS).

The official visit to Vietnam by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese from June 3-4 will continue to contribute to strengthening political trust and promoting multi-faceted cooperation in politics-diplomacy, defense-security, economy, investment, labor, education, technology, climate change, and people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Australia.

Mr. Anthony Norman Albanese is the 31st Prime Minister of Australia. He was born on March 2, 1963 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; education: Bachelor of Economics, University of Sydney, Australia.

Career: From December 2006 to December 2007, he was Shadow Minister, Ministry of Water Resources and Infrastructure. From December 2007 to September 2013, he was Shadow Minister, Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. From October 2013 to June 2019, he was Shadow Minister, Ministry of Tourism.

From September 2014 to July 2016, he was Shadow Minister, Ministry of Cities. From July 2016 to June 2019, he served as Shadow Minister, Ministry of Infrastructure, Cities and Regional Development.

From May 2019 to May 2022, he served as Leader of the Opposition Party. From May 23, 2022 to present, he has been Prime Minister of Australia.

As one of Australia's longest-serving politicians, Anthony Albanese has built a reputation as a "builder" with a message of connection and unity.

During his campaign and inaugural address, he emphasized his commitment to changing policies on the environment, climate change, and clean energy.
