During his program to attend the 16th Annual Pioneers Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF 16 Tianjin) and work in China, on the afternoon of June 24, in Tianjin city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam - China Business Connection Forum.

With the theme "Cooperation in developing infrastructure, modern financial services, promoting production capacity on the basis of green energy, smart production, innovation", the forum was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; ministers, leaders of ministries, branches, localities, ambassadors and many Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises.

At the forum, delegates reviewed the economic cooperation between Vietnam and China; and introduced the potential and needs for cooperation and investment of each side. Delegates said that in the good relationship between Vietnam and China, economic relations are an important pillar, maintaining continuous development momentum.

In 2024, Vietnam will maintain its position as the largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China's fourth largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching 205.2 billion USD, up 19.3% compared to 2023, and in the first 5 months of this year, Vietnam-China bilateral trade reached 92.9 billion USD, up 18.7% over the same period.

In terms of investment, by the end of 2024, China continued to rank 6th out of 148 countries and territories investing FDI in Vietnam with 5,111 valid projects, total registered capital reaching 30.83 billion USD.

Chinese investors have invested in 19/21 economic sectors with FDI investment and in 55/63 provinces and cities of Vietnam. In 2024, Vietnam welcomed 3.74 million Chinese visitors, ranking second and accounting for 21.26% of total international visitors to Vietnam.

Chinese enterprises consider Vietnam to be one of the fastest growing and most dynamic economies in the region; with a favorable investment environment. Chinese enterprises wish to cooperate and invest in Vietnam, especially in the fields of infrastructure, high technology, energy, especially electric energy, finance, including the development of international financial centers, etc.

Providing information to the forum about priority areas and Vietnam's development strategies such as railway development, telecommunications, high technology, innovation, digital transformation, electric energy, etc., Vietnamese enterprises believe and hope that with the foundation of the relationship between the two countries, a long history of effective operations in Vietnam and their own capacity and potential, Chinese enterprises will expand their investment and business in Vietnam, especially providing finance, transferring technology, and sharing smart management with Vietnamese enterprises.

Speaking at the Forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his admiration, congratulations, and learning from China in governance, national construction, achieving the first 100-year goals, and moving towards the second 100-year goals with confidence and hope. In particular, China has rapidly developed strategic infrastructure, developed science, technology, innovation, and become a power in these fields; continuing to demonstrate its role as a major country, mastering this "game".

Reviewing the positive development process in the Vietnam-China relationship, where mountains connect mountains and rivers connect rivers, including milestones in the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh and the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam associated with China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that on the basis of the relationship between the two countries, businesses of the two countries not only cooperate for mutual development but also contribute to the relationship between the two Parties, two countries, two civilizations and cultures; to the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future has strategic significance.

Regarding the world situation, the Prime Minister said that there are more difficulties and challenges than opportunities and advantages. Therefore, the two countries and their businesses must be more united and confident, ready to face difficulties and challenges; consider difficulties and challenges as opportunities for development, contributing to creating an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Regarding the situation in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that after 80 years of gaining independence, Vietnam rose from the ashes of war, being besieged and embargoed for a long time, after nearly 40 years of renovation, Vietnam has achieved great achievements of historical significance, including the cooperation, contributions and support of China and Chinese enterprises.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is entering a new era of strong, prosperous and thriving development. The Party and State of Vietnam have identified a "strategic quartet" to realize the 100-year goals to "rise up in the new era" and are carrying out a revolution in the arrangement and organization of the political system and the organization of two-level local governments.

Over the past time, the Vietnamese Government has persistently promoted "three strategic breakthroughs" in institutions, infrastructure and human resources, with the spirit of open institutions, smooth infrastructure, human resources and smart governance; creating favorable conditions for enterprises to invest and do business more effectively.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the senior leaders of the two Parties and States have agreed to build a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future with strategic significance, with the connotation of "6 mores," including "Deeper substantive cooperation," contributing to making economic, trade, and investment relations a bright spot and an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries; enterprises are the pillars connecting the two economies.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the space and opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries are still very vast, in which cooperation in the fields of science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, etc. is limitless; he suggested that businesses promote cooperation, investment, business, and development creation in the spirit of mutual benefit, harmonious interests, and shared risks.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that with the current good political relations, businesses of the two countries will cooperate more and more smoothly, bringing higher added value, the success of Chinese businesses is also the success of Vietnam; contributing to fostering the Vietnam-China friendship as both comrades and brothers, forever green and sustainable.

At the forum, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates, Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises and corporations exchanged 9 cooperation and investment agreements in the fields of: energy, railway, information technology, telecommunications, real estate, transportation, import and export of goods....
