According to RT on September 8, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned that the European Union (EU) is on the brink of collapse and will not be able to survive beyond the next decade without "fundamental structural reform" and an escape from the conflict in Ukraine.
Speaking at an event in Kotcse (Hungary) on September 7, Prime Minister Orban said the EU has failed to achieve its initial ambition of becoming a global power and cannot handle current challenges due to the lack of a common fiscal policy.

Prime Minister Orban described the bloc as entering a period of "chaotic and costly disintegration", warning that the EU budget for 2028-2035 "could be the last if nothing changes".
“The EU is now on the verge of collapse and has entered a state of fragmentation. And if the situation continues like this… there will be a sad outcome,” Prime Minister Orban warned.
He also proposed transforming the EU into “concentric circles”.
The outermost ring will include countries cooperating on military security and energy, the second ring will include members of the common market, the third ring will include countries that use a common currency, while the inner ring will include members seeking deeper political alignment. In Prime Minister Orban's view, this change will help expand cooperation without limiting development.
Prime Minister Orban believes that the EU is too dependent on common debt and is using the Ukraine conflict as a pretext to continue this policy. He said that as long as the conflict continues, the EU will remain dependent on the US for security and will not be able to act independently on economic issues. Prime Minister Orban also suggested that the EU should go to Moscow to pursue a security agreement with Russia, followed by an economic agreement.
