Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for key projects and works in the transport sector.

On the evening of September 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Head of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector, chaired the online conference of the 20th meeting of the Steering Committee.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee - Tran Hong Ha; Steering Committee members who are Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities; representatives of project management boards, State economic groups, investors, consulting units, and construction contractors.

At Vinh Long bridge, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi chaired, also attended by representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

The meeting focused on discussing, assessing the situation, proposing solutions to speed up the progress of projects; ensuring quality, technical and aesthetic aspects of the projects; labor safety, hygiene, environmental landscape; and at the same time, removing difficulties and obstacles arising during the implementation process.

According to the Ministry of Construction, at the meeting on July 31 to review the first 6 months of 2025 and the peak emulation period of "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000 km of expressway", the Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee, assigned 33 tasks to ministries, branches and localities. To date, the units have completed 12 tasks on time.

To speed up progress, the Prime Minister decided to add 15 projects (including 13 road projects, 1 aviation project, 1 seaport project) to the list under the Steering Committee, bringing the total number to 120 projects/component projects.

Ministries, sectors, localities and investors have made efforts to overcome difficulties and proactively implement the project. However, there are still many problems regarding site clearance, construction material sources and construction organization that need to be resolved.

In Vinh Long, there is currently one project in the list of key projects of the transport sector approved by the Prime Minister and being implemented: My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway Construction Project, Phase 1 (section through Vinh Long province).

In addition, Vinh Long also participates in providing construction materials (filling sand) for key projects: the North-South Eastern Expressway phase 2021 - 2025 (Can Tho - Hau Giang, Hau Giang - Ca Mau sections); Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway phase 1 (component project 3); Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3; and Dai Ngai Bridge (Tra Vinh - Soc Trang).
