Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai Prime Minister enjoy Vietnamese handicraft products

At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra paid an official visit to Vietnam and co-chaired the 4th meeting of the Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet from May 15 - 16.

On the evening of May 15, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra visited and experienced unique Vietnamese handicraft products and displayed Vietnam - Thailand photos.

The photo exhibition about the country, people and relationship between Vietnam and Thailand introduces nearly 20 black and white and color photos about the country and people of each country. In particular, the photo works record the development process of the bilateral relationship since the official establishment of diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, to the "Enhanced Strategic Partnership" from 2015 to present, with many important achievements in all fields of politics , diplomacy, economics - trade - investment, culture, education - training, tourism, people-to-people exchange...

After 49 years of construction and development, the two sides have created an important and solid foundation and premise to bring the Vietnam - Thailand relationship to a new height.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra watched artisans perform, products and listened to introductions about unique Vietnamese handicrafts such as: clay figurine making, conical hat making, bamboo and rattan weaving, ceramics, fine woodwork, embroidery, silver bean making, folk painting, lacquerware...

Handicraft products are made from familiar materials, closely associated with the daily life of Vietnamese people; are cultural heritage, crystallized from the ingenuity, passion and soul of artisans, expressing the beauty and pride of the Vietnamese nation.

The handicraft industry in Vietnam has a long history associated with craft villages and craft streets spread across the country. Currently, Vietnam has about 2,500 handicraft villages with famous places such as: Bat Trang and Phu Lang pottery; Van Phuc silk; Bang So bamboo weaving; Dong Xam silver carving; Lang Chuong conical hats; Dinh Cong silver beans; Dong Ho and Hang Trong folk paintings...

In addition to serving domestic and international tourists to Vietnam, handicrafts are always in the top 10 export items with the largest turnover of Vietnam, present in 163 countries and territories.

This is the first visit to Vietnam by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra since she took office and the first visit by a Thai Prime Minister to Vietnam in 11 years; and also the first joint Cabinet meeting of the two countries' Prime Ministers in 10 years. This event contributes to strengthening political trust; is an opportunity for both sides to review the progress of promoting cooperation in all fields in the recent past in order to deepen and substantiate the relationship in the upcoming era of cooperation and development.
