Prime Minister: Building a standardized, elite, modern Military Region 5 as a core force in the strategic areas of the Fatherland

On the afternoon of October 16, in Da Nang City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the 80th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Armed Forces of Military Region 5 and received the Ho Chi Minh Medal.

During the two resistance wars for national salvation, Military Region 5 was one of the most fierce and key battlefields, directly facing dangerous war strategies and new types of operations; confronting large and skilled enemy forces. The victories at the Military Region 5 battlefield were often decisive, contributing to changing the revolutionary situation of our country, with many feats of historical and strategic significance.

On behalf of General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Party and State, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Military Region 5 on receiving the Ho Chi Minh Medal, a noble award of the Party and State; and at the same time highly appreciated and commended the maturity and great contributions of the armed forces of Military Region 5 to the revolutionary cause, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, and the cause of building and developing the Vietnam People's Army.

During 80 years of fighting, building and growing, the armed forces of Military Region 5 have always been absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People; creating a unique identity of "Self-reliance, self-strengthening, overcoming difficulties, enduring hardships, being ingenious and creative, fighting steadfastly, and achieving glorious and resplendent victories".

The Prime Minister emphasized that Military Region 5 is a strategic area, the intersection of many strategic directions, with an important position in terms of economy, politics, national defense and security of the country, both on land, border and islands; at the same time, it is an area with a large number of ethnic minorities, with many socio-economic difficulties and a long border with Laos and Cambodia. Therefore, in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested Military Region 5 to perform well a number of key tasks, which are to focus on and improve the quality of situational awareness and strategic advice; the core in implementing the national defense policy.

The Prime Minister requested Military Region 5 to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern force, which is the core force in the strategic area of ​​the Fatherland, contributing to the implementation of the functions of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, which are: the fighting army must win; the working army must be effective; the working army must be good, trusted and looked forward to by the people in difficult times. This is an opportunity to further enhance the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, worthy of what the Party, State and people trust and entrust.
