Thuan Bac creates new changes

Upon arriving in Thuan Bac district, we clearly felt the vibrant rhythm of life here. Through the spirit of overcoming difficulties, the close leadership and guidance of the Party committees and government at all levels, and the support of businesses and local people, many achievements have been made in socio-economic development, bringing about a fresh and hopeful spring.

From the administrative center of Thuan Bac district, gazing into the distance at the steadily rotating wind farms generating energy is one of the key highlights, creating a new breakthrough in the local development process. Considered a land rich in potential for industrial development, the district creatively applies central and provincial policies, flexibly implementing solutions to attract investment and encourage many businesses to participate in renewable energy projects, transforming hundreds of hectares of barren land and inefficiently cultivated areas into valuable assets. To date, the district has 9 renewable energy projects, including wind and solar power, with a total capacity of 913.225 MW; of which, 6 projects have been put into commercial operation, such as: Trung Nam Solar Power Plant, Xuan Thien Solar Power Plant, Hanbaram Wind Power Plant, Loi Hai 2 Wind Power Plant... with an annual electricity output of approximately 2,540 million kWh. In addition, the district focuses on developing industries with advantages in the production of construction materials, mining, and mineral processing. To create a competitive advantage, the district encourages businesses and production facilities to promote the application of science and technology, invest in modern equipment, expand production scale, and improve the quality of products such as: jelly, sand, construction stone, and cement. The district's potential is also being awakened with key economic projects such as: Binh Tien Tourist Area and Du Long Industrial Park. In 2023, the value of industrial and construction production is estimated at VND 7,980 billion, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year; at the same time, the goal is to achieve a production value of VND 9,573 billion in 2024. Through this, it will gradually become an important economic sector, contributing to increased budget revenue, job creation, and improved income for workers in the area.

In the agricultural sector, due to frequent droughts, Thuan Bac district prioritizes investment in new models, transforming crops and livestock to suit local characteristics, and improving productivity and product quality. Annually, communes focus on reviewing and planning specific planting areas, guiding farmers in arranging crops to ensure sufficient acreage and high yields. In 2023, the total planted area in the district reached 11,337 hectares of various crops, with over 124 hectares of dryland crops converted from rice fields, creating large-scale production areas. Small-scale, fragmented, and unstable production is gradually being eliminated, and farmers are increasingly adapting to trends and implementing models that are deeply integrated with market demand. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, from Kien Kien 1 village, Loi Hai commune, shared: "With nearly 3 sao (approximately 3,000 square meters) of cultivated land, where rice cultivation was previously ineffective, I decided to switch to growing chili peppers many years ago. Due to their short growing season, ease of care, and low water requirements, they provide a much more stable income compared to rice cultivation. Currently, it's the end of the year, and my family is focusing on caring for the chili plants to ensure they are ready for sale during the Lunar New Year..."

Thanks to the application of new techniques, many areas for crop and livestock production suitable to the local climate and soil conditions are being developed in Thuan Bac district; boosting the production value per hectare of cultivated land in areas with reliable irrigation to over 106 million VND/hectare/year. The livestock sector has also made significant breakthroughs, with farming households focusing on developing large herds of cattle, goats, and sheep, combined with grass cultivation, forming large-scale farms raising black pigs and native chickens, creating an important foundation for increasing income and improving the lives of farming households.

The above results demonstrate the correct direction of Thuan Bac district, specifically through the effective mobilization and utilization of resources for investment and development, boosting the economic value of various sectors. In the joyful spirit of welcoming the new year, Mr. Pham Trong Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuan Bac district, stated: The success achieved in 2023 is a crucial foundation for the local Party committee, government, and people to confidently carry out their tasks in the coming years. Closely following the action program of the resolutions of the Party congresses at all levels, the locality will continue to uphold a high sense of responsibility in leadership and direction, united in determination to overcome difficulties and strive to achieve the highest possible results in the set goals and tasks. This includes focusing on attracting investment resources for socio-economic development; directing agricultural production to suit weather conditions, and transforming dryland crops on rice land towards sustainable and long-term development. Promote the development of trade and services, focusing on effectively implementing solutions to support businesses, expand markets, and increase product consumption. Focus on directing and effectively carrying out compensation and land clearance work to ensure projects are implemented on schedule.

Thanks to proactive and innovative approaches, Thuan Bac district has undergone a remarkable transformation. As the new year approaches, the lives of the people are becoming more prosperous and happy.
