Further promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Hessen state (Germany)

(CPV) - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan welcomed the visit of State Premier Boris Rhein to Vietnam in the context that Vietnam and Germany will soon celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 and the Vietnam - Hessen cooperation relationship is developing well; she believes that the visit will create new momentum to further promote the relationship between the two sides.

On November 27, 2024, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Prime Minister of Hessen State (Germany) Boris Rhein, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, the Vice President welcomed the State President Boris Rhein's visit to Vietnam in the context that Vietnam and Germany will soon celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 and the Vietnam - Hessen cooperation relationship is developing well; believing that the visit will create new momentum to further promote the relationship between the two sides. Appreciating the leading role and position of Germany in Europe, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan reaffirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the Strategic Partnership with Germany, and was pleased to see that after nearly 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has continuously developed and expanded in many fields from politics - diplomacy, trade - investment, education - training - labor to science - technology, security - defense. The Vice President said that in the overall good bilateral relationship between the two countries, the relationship between Vietnam and the State of Hessen has developed very effectively. The good cooperation between Vietnam and the state of Hessen as well as with Germany is clearly demonstrated through the effective and successful operation of the Vietnam - Germany University, which has been training high-quality human resources for Vietnam; with the presence of many Hessen state enterprises in Vietnam as well as Vietnamese enterprises present in the state such as Vietnam Airlines , FPT, Viettinbank, Vinfast, etc., contributing to the trade turnover between Vietnam and Hessen accounting for 1/10 of the total bilateral turnover of the two countries.

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the state government continue to promote the Strategic Partnership to a new height, especially to strengthen political trust in the context of unpredictable fluctuations in the world and the region; support and encourage state enterprises to invest in Vietnam, especially supporting Vietnam in areas serving Vietnam's economic transformation model towards green growth and combating climate change; and advocate for the German Parliament to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to facilitate investment by the business communities of the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

Thanking Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan for taking the time to receive the delegation, Prime Minister Boris Rhein affirmed that the two sides have great potential to continue to strengthen cooperation in areas where Vietnam has demand and Hessen has strengths such as education - training, finance - banking, science - technology, labor, renewable energy, etc. Prime Minister Boris Rhein recalled the good memories with the Vice President in 2021 in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, highly appreciating the mutual support and mutual assistance of both sides. The Hessen State Government attaches great importance to relations with Vietnam, proposing that the two sides should renew the Priority Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam and Hessen State signed in 2012 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Prime Minister Boris Rhein said that the state government considers the Vietnam-Germany University project a top priority, is pleased with the strong development of the University, and will continue to coordinate with Vietnam to promote the growth of the University, emphasizing that the human bridge represented by the young generations of Vietnam studying and working in Germany will be a solid foundation towards the future. Prime Minister Boris Rhein said that regardless of which party leads in the early election in Germany in February 2025, the priorities in promoting relations with Vietnam will not change.

The two sides agreed to closely coordinate in implementing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations (September 23, 1975 - September 23, 2025), including exchanging delegations at all levels, implementing cultural and people-to-people exchange activities, to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Vietnam and Hessen; renewing the Priority Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam and the state and maintaining good relations even in the context that Germany will soon have a new Government. The two sides will coordinate to consider the possibility of upgrading the relationship to a new level, in order to meet the aspirations and needs of both sides./.
