The event gathered representatives of organizations, telecommunications enterprises, domestic and foreign researchers to discuss the roadmap for expanding the commercialization of Open RAN, towards an efficient and sustainable digital infrastructure. Speakers came from the Global Mobile Association (GSMA), the International Association for Open RAN (ORAN Alliance); Ministry of Science and Technology ; Qualcomm Group, Viettel Group...
At the conference, GSMA shared about the development potential and impact of Open RAN technology on the global telecommunications industry. O-RAN Alliance updated the current development status of O-RAN and orientation for the upcoming 5G-6G network era. Qualcomm pointed out the importance of specialized processing chips (ASIC) in expanding the Open RAN platform.
Gartner released a report analyzing the 5G RAN market. Viettel representatives shared their experience in large-scale practical deployment in Vietnam, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the world telecommunications map.

Accordingly, Viettel announced that the unit has deployed 2,300 5G Open RAN stations, and will deploy 2,500 stations nationwide by the end of 2025. To achieve this result, from 2022 to now, Qualcomm Group has cooperated with Viettel in design, testing and commercialization. Thanks to the application of the Open RAN platform, Viettel has shortened the product development time to only 12 months compared to 24 months according to the process.
Test results show that Viettel's 5G device using Qualcomm chipset helps save up to 24% of power under high load conditions, while maintaining stable performance with download speeds of 1.2-1.7 Gb/s, on par with the world's leading suppliers. After successful deployment in the country, Viettel plans to expand to foreign markets, and at the same time, develop 5G-Advanced, 6G generations...
The world's leading telecommunications experts noted that this is a big step forward not only for Viettel but also for Vietnam when for the first time a Made in Vietnam technology product has received recognition from many prestigious market research units in the world. This recognition continues to affirm Vietnam's technological capacity to reach out to the world.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Director of the Department of Information Technology Industry (Ministry of Science and Technology) praised Viettel Group as a pioneer enterprise that has taken on national responsibilities, making Vietnam one of the few countries with autonomous capacity in researching, designing and manufacturing 5G equipment.
The Viettel-Qualcomm cooperation is not only a connection between two businesses and two brands, but also a connection between two countries and two industries, aiming at the common goal of building an open, safe and sustainable technology supply chain; promoting innovation and developing global digital human resources; and together creating a smarter, greener and more humane connected world.
