Viet Nam adopted the NAP WPS on January 21, 2024, demonstrating its strong commitment to promoting women's leadership and participation in peace and security.

After the program was approved, the Ministry of Public Security has proactively strengthened gender equality policies in the security sector, promoting women's leadership and participation in security work, domestic and international law enforcement, as well as in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

As the key agency of the Government in ensuring security and order, the Ministry of Public Security plays an important role in integrating women, peace and security issues into the national security framework. At the workshop, delegates identified specific actions, policies and strategic objectives to develop a draft action plan of the Ministry of Public Security, supporting the implementation plan of the NAP WPS issued by the Government.

This initiative affirms Vietnam's commitment to inclusive security policies and women's empowerment for sustainable peace.

As a key partner, UN Women Viet Nam will support Viet Nam in advancing the women, peace and security agenda, capacity building, policy development and international cooperation. These joint efforts contribute to building a more inclusive, resilient and secure future for women and girls in Viet Nam and globally.

The workshop is supported by the UK Government and the Canadian Government through UN Women.
