(CTO) - At the workshop, experts and businesses proposed that the State should issue common standards on data format and collection methods to create a clean and consistent data source for AI.

On December 18th, the School of Economics (Can Tho University) and the Research Group Leading in Socio-Economic and Rural Economic Development (RESRUD) organized a scientific workshop on the topic "Prospects for the Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Businesses in the Mekong Delta".

AI is reshaping the global business landscape. The application of AI is becoming an inevitable trend and a crucial driving force for businesses in the Mekong Delta to enhance their competitiveness in the context of deep integration. In reality, businesses in the Mekong Delta are in the early stages of applying AI to production and business, facing significant challenges regarding resources, data infrastructure, initial investment costs, data security, and more.

Recognizing the current situation and seeking solutions to promote AI application in businesses in the coming time, the presentations at the conference focused on the following topics: the practical application of AI at Katec and the value it brings to the business; the current status and roadmap for AI application in digital transformation in Vietnam; the current state of artificial intelligence in businesses in the Mekong Delta; the orientation for application and development of artificial intelligence in Can Tho City; the prospects of applying artificial intelligence for businesses in the Mekong Delta: a "tailored solution" strategy and promoting public-private cooperation.

At the workshop, experts and businesses proposed that the government should issue common standards on data format and collection methods to create a clean and consistent data source for AI; and establish a free open data repository so that businesses and startups can access and develop AI models. Regarding human resources, many suggested organizing training courses on basic AI and data science for business managers and technicians; and promoting a collaborative model between the "Government - Businesses - Universities" to ensure that AI solutions are developed based on the actual needs of the market and have a solid scientific foundation.
