This was the content affirmed by experts at the seminar "Striving for Sustainable Double-Digit Economic Growth: New Context, New Actions," part of the ESG Vietnam Forum 2026 series of activities organized by Dan Tri newspaper in collaboration with other units on the afternoon of May 27th. The seminar clarified three major issues.
First, it is crucial to correctly identify the new drivers of high growth in the context of a volatile global geopolitical and economic landscape.
Secondly, it is necessary to more clearly establish the central role of businesses in collaborating with the State to create institutions, build infrastructure, and drive growth.
Thirdly, it involves proposing policy recommendations and specific actions from businesses to realize the goal of double-digit growth.
Discussing key resources for green transformation and sustainable development, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tho, Deputy Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Strategy and Policy ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ), stated that Vietnam has sufficient foundational conditions to promote green transformation and digital transformation. However, the biggest difficulty lies in implementation, as many businesses, localities, and people are still confused, unsure where to start and how to proceed.
Instead of being overly concerned, the expert suggested a step-by-step approach, prioritizing easier tasks first, and especially adhering strictly to technical standards and regulations. Vietnam is effectively connecting its population database with the national land database, and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tho noted that this is an example showing how implementation is much smoother if done according to standards.
"The most important thing is to follow the same standards. If each place does things differently, and each person goes in a different direction, it will be very difficult to create breakthroughs," he said.
The expert also stated that there are currently many sets of standards related to green development, green technology, and green building. These serve as a "technical framework" to help businesses, citizens, and management agencies clearly define their action plans towards achieving sustainable development goals.
According to Mr. Tho, if all parties properly implement the established action plans and standards, Vietnam can absolutely create a strong shift in the green transformation process and improve the quality of growth.
Sharing his views on Vietnam's current new growth drivers, Mr. Le Hung Cuong - Director of FPT Digital - believes that science and technology, digital transformation, AI, and ESG are opening up great opportunities for businesses to improve productivity, optimize operations, and increase competitiveness in the new era.
According to FPT Digital's leadership, one of the most important factors determining the success of the transformation is the determination of the company's leadership.
He stated that at FPT, ESG standards and green transformation have been integrated into many operational activities, from the team of programmers and office systems to the management of electricity, water, and workspace.
Mr. Le Hung Cuong also noted that businesses today not only compete on price or market share but are also forced to change their development mindset towards transparency, sustainability, and greater application of technology. Even technology companies face pressure regarding capital and transition costs, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
In fact, for many large international contracts, ESG has become a mandatory "entry requirement," with many global partners requiring businesses to achieve the highest level of ESG certification to be eligible to participate.
