Muong Long is located in a valley on a 1,485-meter-high mountain peak in the Truong Son mountain range, near the border with Laos. The road to the commune starts from Muong Xen town, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, with over 50 km of dirt road winding along small mountain passes, then crossing the "heaven's gate" known as "Muong Long Heaven's Gate". The stunning scenery and cool climate here allow many flowers to bloom, such as peach blossoms, plum blossoms, and now even many medicinal flowers.
