The National Assembly Standing Committee will review personnel work under its authority and prepare for an extraordinary session at the opening session tomorrow morning, January 8.
According to information from the National Assembly Office, it is expected that tomorrow morning, January 8, the National Assembly Standing Committee will open its 29th session to give opinions on personnel work under the authority of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended, delivered the opening speech and, together with the National Assembly Vice Chairmen, took turns presiding over the content of the meeting. According to the provisions of the current Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, personnel work under the authority of the National Assembly Standing Committee includes: proposing to the National Assembly to elect, dismiss, and remove the President, National Assembly Chairman, National Assembly Vice Chairmen, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Council, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee, Chairman of the National Election Council, State Auditor General, and Secretary General of the National Assembly. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly also decides on the number, approves the list of members and the dismissal of members of the committee, decides on the number, approves the list and the dismissal of vice chairmen, permanent members, and full-time members of the National Assembly committees at the proposal of the chairmen of the National Assembly committees... In addition, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly is also responsible for approving the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment and dismissal of the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Vietnam; approving the election results and the dismissal of the heads and deputy heads of the National Assembly delegations. At the same time, approving the election results, dismissal, and removal of the chairmen and vice chairmen of the People's Councils of provinces and centrally-run cities.
Comment on the revised Land Law, prepare for extraordinary session
In addition to the above content, at this meeting, the National Assembly Standing Committee will also give opinions on explaining, accepting, and revising the draft revised Land Law and the revised Law on Credit Institutions. These are two draft laws left over from the 6th session at the end of 2023, expected to be submitted to the National Assembly at the extraordinary session opening from January 15. In addition, the National Assembly Standing Committee will also consider explaining the provisions in Clause 1, Article 6 of the Law on Public Investment related to the use of regular expenditure budget for expenditures of the nature of investment, repair, and upgrading of facilities. This is an issue that is said to be causing problems for many localities and received many debates at the 6th session at the end of last year. At the two-day meeting (January 8-9), the National Assembly Standing Committee will review and comment on the draft Resolution on a number of specific mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles, and accelerate the implementation of national target programs. Along with that is the addition of the medium-term public investment plan of the central budget for the period 2021-2025 from the general reserve source corresponding to the source of increased revenue and savings of the central budget in 2022 for public investment tasks and projects, and the addition of the medium-term public investment plan for the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) from the reserve source of the medium-term public investment plan. At this meeting, the National Assembly Standing Committee will also comment on the preparation for the 5th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly.
