According to the assessment of Tien Giang Hydrometeorological Station: from now until July 2025, there will be 2-4 storms and tropical depressions operating in the East Sea and affecting our country from 1-2 storms. From August to October 2025, there will be about 6-8 storms and tropical depressions operating in the East Sea, making landfall in our country from 2-3 storms.
From August to October 2025, which is the flood season on the Mekong and Cuu Long rivers, the total flow from the upper Mekong River to the Mekong Delta gradually increases and is at a level equivalent to the average of many years.

In order to proactively prevent, respond to unusual weather and natural disasters, reduce damage to people's lives and property and the state as required by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in Official Dispatch No. 2992/BNNMT-DD dated June 10, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee requests the Heads of provincial departments, branches and sectors, Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards, according to their assigned functions and tasks, to focus on the following specific tasks:

Continue to implement: Official Dispatch No. 76/CD-TTg dated May 28, 2025 of the Prime Minister on focusing on responding to the risk of heavy rain, landslides, flash floods and proactively preventing natural disasters in the coming time; Directive No. 05/CT-UBND dated March 24, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue in 2025 in Tien Giang province and Official Dispatch No. 3622/UBND-KT dated May 15, 2025 of the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee on implementing Directive No. 02/CT-BNNMT dated May 8, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on strengthening the work of ensuring the safety of dykes and irrigation works in the rainy and flood season in 2025,...
2. Department of Agriculture and Environment
- Closely monitor and update weather and hydrometeorological developments, especially forecasts and warnings about heavy rain, thunderstorms, floods, high tides, landslides and provide timely and complete information to local authorities and people for proactive prevention.
- Preside over and coordinate with relevant units to inspect irrigation works, dykes, natural disaster prevention works, drainage works, etc., promptly repair damaged works (if any); coordinate with the People's Committees at the commune level to review points, areas, and works that are likely to cause danger, landslides, etc., unify the on-duty regime, warning measures, traffic prevention, etc., to prevent accidents and loss of human lives.
- Preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to assess the flood situation in 2025, the current status of dikes, embankments, sluices, and dams in the province to proactively develop plans to respond to natural disasters, prevent floods and high tides from affecting irrigation works, agricultural production, and people's lives and property.
- Preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, relevant departments, branches and sectors and the People's Committees at the commune level to inspect and strictly handle cases of illegal exploitation of sand, gravel and mud in riverbeds in the province.
3. Provincial Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command
- Review and update disaster response plans and strategies in accordance with assigned tasks; prepare rescue forces, vehicles, and equipment to respond when required.
- Grasp the list of officers and soldiers, mobilize them to respond to natural disasters and storms, especially the grassroots disaster prevention and control shock force; plan for using means and equipment to deploy immediately when necessary.
- Provincial Border Guard Command: Closely monitor forecasts, proactively warn of strong winds, big waves, thunderstorms and bad weather at sea; direct Border Guard Stations and Control Stations to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, localities and related units to notify and send warning signals to captains and owners of vehicles and boats operating at sea to proactively avoid, escape from dangerous areas and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. Resolutely do not allow water transport vehicles to leave the port when there is a dangerous natural disaster situation.
4. Department of Construction
- Preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees at district and commune levels to develop plans to relocate and arrange residential areas, architectural works, and warehouses outside areas at risk of frequent natural disasters, ensuring safe protection corridors for river banks and coastlines according to regulations.
- Direct relevant departments to coordinate with localities to inspect, review, and guide the implementation of strengthening natural disaster prevention and control to ensure safety for people, houses, and construction works during the rainy and stormy season in Tien Giang province according to Official Dispatch No. 2911/BXD-GD dated July 7, 2023 and Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-BXD dated May 29, 2025 of the Ministry of Construction to focus on responding to the risk of heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, and proactively preventing natural disasters in the coming time.
- Direct relevant departments and offices to review, inspect and strictly handle encroachment and violations of riverbank, canal and ditch protection corridors; strengthen management of planning, construction of new traffic works and operation of inland waterway vehicles to avoid increasing the risk of riverbank erosion.

6. Tien Giang Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited
- Regularly check and monitor water levels on rivers outside sluice works, especially during high tides to develop appropriate project operation plans, control water levels to ensure the goal of meeting current production requirements in project areas; at the same time, avoid lowering water levels inside project areas, causing landslides on river banks, canals, and ditches.
- Regularly notify the project operation schedule and the water level in the project areas to the localities to coordinate during the implementation process; at the same time, coordinate with local authorities to promptly adjust the project operation schedule when the weather changes (when the tide is low, the 864 system is operated to retain water and limit landslides) to ensure that the water level in the fields is always at a level that is suitable for production and does not cause landslides.
- Strengthen monitoring of weather forecast information on rain and flood from hydrometeorological forecasting agencies to have appropriate operation plans. Timely deploy plans to ensure the safety of irrigation works, operate irrigation works safely, effectively, and in accordance with procedures, meeting production and people's needs.
7. District People's Committee, Commune People's Committee
- Closely monitor and update weather, hydrometeorological developments, disaster warning bulletins of specialized hydrometeorological agencies, scientific agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (Department of Hydrometeorology at: http://hymetnet.gov.vn/ and http://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn) to notify, guide, disseminate knowledge and skills on prevention, response and response to all types of natural disasters in coastal, vulnerable and densely populated areas to raise the sense of responsibility and self-awareness of organizations, communities and people to prevent and respond to phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, floods, high tides and landslides that may occur to minimize damage, and absolutely not to be passive or surprised.
- Propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for people to implement measures to reinforce and brace houses to ensure safety before the rainy and stormy season, to increase their stability to prevent storms and tornadoes; direct urban management units in the area to conduct inspections, reviews, and take measures to cut and prune branches and twigs of tall trees that are prone to falling; take measures to reinforce and support trees, especially trees in schools, hospitals, parks, along traffic routes, and densely populated residential areas to ensure safety; do not let trees fall due to storms, tornadoes, or strong gusts of wind, causing human damage, especially the lives of people participating in traffic...
- Direct, organize inspections and reviews of areas where storms and landslides frequently occur to develop response plans when bad situations occur, especially arranging disaster prevention and control forces to promote the motto of "four on-site" and "three ready" in preparing to respond when natural disasters occur and organizing to overcome the consequences quickly and promptly. Resolutely organize the relocation and evacuation of people when bad situations occur to ensure safety of life, limit damage to property for people and infrastructure. At the same time, have plans to support resettlement and stabilize the lives of households that have to be relocated.
- Continue to review households living in areas with frequent natural disasters, areas with landslides or high risk of landslides to supplement the Population Disposition Program for natural disaster areas for the period 2023 - 2025, with a vision to 2030 in Tien Giang province according to Plan No. 354/KH-UBND dated July 14, 2023 of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province and Plan No. 499/KH-UBND dated November 27, 2023 of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province on implementing the Project on preventing and combating riverbank and coastal landslides by 2030 in Tien Giang province as a basis for implementation.
- Regularly organize inspections and reviews to identify landslide-prone areas, thereby proactively allocating local budget resources to urgently implement solutions to handle, overcome, make plans to repair, upgrade, and protect the safety of people's lives, property and production according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee in Official Dispatch No. 352/UBND-TC dated January 29, 2018; direct construction units to speed up the construction progress of works to soon put them into use to serve the work of natural disaster prevention in a timely and effective manner.
- Strictly manage and strictly handle: illegal sand and gravel mining and gathering; encroachment on riverbeds and canals; violations of protection areas affecting the safety of irrigation works and dykes. Resolutely handle organizations and individuals who violate regulations on the use of riverbeds, banks and beaches, especially the construction of houses and works along rivers and on rivers and illegal sand and gravel mining in riverbeds, increasing the risk of riverbank erosion.
- Review and update disaster prevention plans and disaster response plans for all levels of disaster risks, including evacuation plans, plans for arranging forces, materials, and means to be ready to respond to disaster-prone areas in accordance with the actual situation in the locality.
8. Provincial departments, branches and sectors, according to their assigned functions and tasks, continue to monitor weather reports, forecast warnings, proactively direct and coordinate with the People's Committees at the commune level to implement measures to prevent, combat, respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, promptly propose and report to the Provincial People's Committee for direction on issues beyond their authority.
