(ABO) On the morning of April 12, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province held a construction ceremony for Tan Phong bridge across Tan Phong commune, Cai Lay district.

Attending the construction ceremony were comrades: Vo Van Binh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Tien Giang province; Nguyen Van Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of departments, branches, etc.
According to the Tien Giang Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the total investment of Tan Phong Bridge is over 239 billion VND; of which, the construction cost is over 137 billion VND. According to the design, the main bridge is over 359 m long, including 9 spans.

The bridge is 9 m wide, with vertical clearance of 7 m and horizontal clearance of 30 m. The design load is HL93. The total length of the approach road is over 1,400 m; the design axle load is 10 tons. The road surface width is 7 m, the roadbed width is 9 m.
The road surface width at the bridge abutment section is 8 m wide, the roadbed is 9 m wide, equal to the bridge width. The road surface structure is asphalt on crushed stone aggregate; lighting system is arranged on the bridge and the bridge access road, and traffic safety system.

The construction units are Thien Thuan Construction Trading Company Limited and Construction Joint Stock Company 525. According to the plan, the project construction time is within 12 months.
Director of the Tien Giang Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board Tran Minh Trung said that this is a relatively difficult construction project due to the long distance between transporting equipment and materials from the mainland, having to transport by waterway, constructing bored piles and the entire lowering part on the river... requiring the units implementing the project to have good solutions and experience. Through bidding, the investor has selected units that meet the requirements.
Speaking at the construction ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Dung said that the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term continues to identify transport infrastructure as one of the key, breakthrough, and strategic aspects in the province's socio -economic development orientation during the term.

Implementing the Resolution of the Tien Giang Provincial Party Congress, the Provincial People's Committee has a policy of prioritizing investment in synchronous transport infrastructure. The province has been focusing on investing in the construction of many important transport projects to create momentum for socio-economic development of the province. In particular, investing in bridges to connect and serve the transport needs of the people, and developing the socio-economy in the islands in the province continues to be identified as the focus and key point.
Specifically, the province's total public investment capital for the 2021 - 2025 period for the Transport sector is VND 9,615 billion, accounting for 37.8% of the total medium-term public investment capital for the 2021 - 2025 period of VND 25,427 billion.

In 2022 - 2023, Tien Giang province invested in 2 more large bridges in Cai Be district with a total investment of about 232 billion VND (Vam Cai Thia bridge and My Duc Tay bridge).
At the same time, continue to invest in 2 large bridges with a total investment of 384.69 billion VND across Tan Thanh islet (Tan Phu Dong district) and Tan Phong bridge across Tan Phong islet (Cai Lay district). Particularly, Thoi Son islet has the Central Government investing in Rach Mieu bridge connecting Tien Giang province and Ben Tre province via Thoi Son islet.

Thus, after Tan Phong bridge is completed, in Tien Giang province, only Loi Quan islet (Tan Phu Dong district) will be invested in a bridge combined with the Coastal Road Project connecting Tien Giang province and Ben Tre province and Tan Long islet (belonging to My Tho city) will be considered and invested in at the appropriate time.
After completion, Tan Phong Bridge will help Tan Phong commune eliminate the island commune status, connect road traffic with the mainland, complete traffic infrastructure, develop quickly and sustainably; improve the material and spiritual life of the people...
