The loudspeakers of the border soldiers resounding in the Truong Son range not only convey economic , cultural and social information to the people but also serve as an alarm for people to wake up early to go to the fields.

Thuong Trach border commune, Bo Trach district ( Quang Binh ) is a locality with a large terrain, located in the middle of the Truong Son mountain range, so Thuong Trach commune has a rather isolated geographical location. The residents living in 18 villages here are mostly Ma Coong people (Bru Van Kieu ethnic group) with nearly 90% of the population.

Being a border area with many economic difficulties, there is a lack of mass media for people to access information sources and grasp the situation of the country and locality. In addition, the complex terrain makes it difficult to organize propaganda for people in a centralized form.

In order to promptly bring information to the people, helping them grasp the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local socio-economic development programs, Con Roang Border Guard Station (assigned to be in charge of 8 villages bordering Laos) has come up with many initiatives.

From the experience of propagating using "motorbikes carrying loudspeakers" to prevent and fight the COVID-19 epidemic among the villagers, the soldiers here have piloted the installation of a loudspeaker system in Coc village. From the practical effectiveness of the pilot model in Coc village, Con Roang Border Guard Station has expanded it to the remaining 7 villages. The funding for these loudspeaker systems is taken from the unit's production increase source.

With morning broadcasts from 5:00 to 6:30 a.m. and evening broadcasts from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. every day, many important contents on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and other economic, cultural and social information have been conveyed to the people.

"Since the Border Guard of Con Roang Station installed loudspeakers, the whole village has become much happier. Before, when there were no loudspeakers, people in the village often woke up when they heard the rooster crowing in the morning. Now that there are loudspeakers every morning, the whole village knows to wake up early to go to the fields, wake up early to work and listen to information from the Party and the State to understand and implement," said Mr. Dinh Du, 56 years old, Head of Ca Roong 1 village.

Through the implementation, the unit held a meeting to review experiences and evaluated "distant village loudspeakers" as a new model, highly effective in mobilizing villagers in border areas.
